THE PEOPLE COLUMN

For an undisclosed sum, the family of blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan has settled its lawsuit over his death in a 1990 helicopter crash. An Illinois judge approved the settlement between Vaughan's mother, Martha, and brother Jimmie, and Omniflight Helicopters Inc. of Dallas, said Tom Davis, an Austin, Texas, lawyer for the Vaughans.

The helicopter crashed into a ski hill near an Elkhorn, Wis., amphitheater where Vaughan had completed an outdoor concert with Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray.
