WHO, WHEN & WHERE

Support group

A Children's Support Group for ages 7 to 11 who have a relative or friend with a life-threatening illness, will meet for five more weeks on Wednesdays, at 5:45-6:45 p.m. at The Fralin Center for Community Education, Roanoke.

The group is led by a licensed professional counselor and is sponsored by The Medical Center for Children at Community Hospital.

The center is at 903 S. Jefferson St. For more information, call 981-7641.

Young artists

Young artists in kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to enter an open visual arts competition sponsored by the Virginia Highlands Festival.

Cash prizes and merit awards will be given in four divisions: grades K-2, 3-6, 6-8 and 9-12.

Professional artists will judge the show.

The Youth Art Exhibit will be on display in the Arts Center's Student Gallery on July 21-Sept 11. An opening reception will be held July 30 in the gallery.

Work for public display will be judged suitable at the discretion of the committee and is subject to limitations of the exhibit space.

There is a $2 fee per entry and no more than two entries will be accepted per artist. Artwork must be submitted in person through Thursday at the William King Regional Arts Center, 415 Academy Drive, Abingdon.
