CLARK, Rev. Clifford O'Dell Sr., 74, of Covington, died Thursday morning, July 13, 1995, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. He was a pastor at several locations in Virginia for The Church of God of Prophecy . . . Patrick Springs, Buffalo Ridge, Coeburn, Roanoke S.E., Collinsville, Pulaski, and most recentl y in Covington. He also served as regional and district overseer for the Church of God of Prophecy. He was born in Floyd County, Va. to the late Howard Clark and the late Margaret Underwood Clark. He is survived by his wife, Gloria June Underwood Clark, of the home; seven daughters, Mrs. Ronnie (Barbara) Rakes, patrick Springs, Mrs. Ray (Carolyn) Goad, Patrick Springs, Mrs. Larry (Diane) Gravley, Pulaski, Mrs. Elton F. (Ruth) Shelton, Pulaski, Mrs. Lonnie (Jeannette) Frazier, Austinville, Mrs. Michael (Martha) Nyquist, Plainsboro, N.J., and Mrs. Douglas (Debbie) Jackson, Wilmington, N.C.; one son, Clifford O. Clark Jr., Covington; four sisters, Edna Bower, Floyd, Erma Brogan, Bassett, Irene Midkiff, Collinsville, Frances Kramer, Atlanta, Gal; three brothers, Robert Huff, Collinsville, Woody Huff of Florida, David Huff, Floyd; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Rev. Clark will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Minnix Sr., with burial in the County Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Floyd County. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and other times at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Barbara Rakes in Patrick Springs, Va.
DALTON, Troy Jr., of 704 Malbay Lane, Raleigh, N.C., died Wednesday, July 12, 1995. He was a retiree of IBM and is survived by his wife, Ramona Dalton, of the home; daughter, Jennifer E. Dalton, of the home; son, Troy A. Dalton III, of the home; mother, Clara S. Dalton of Madison, N.C.; sister, Betty Brown of Durham, N.C.; brother, Richard Dalton of Madison, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Carol Wills and Ann Belvin, both of Martinsville, and Peggy Crumwell of Christiansburg. DOSS, Edna Booth, 77, of Roanoke, died Thursday, July 13, 1995. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was the widow of Waller Cecil Doss and is survived by a brother, Charles C. Booth and wife, Rosemary, Hardy; three sisters, Thelma (Polly) Frith, Salem, Louise Duncan, Hardy, and Barbara Wray and husband, Wayne, Roanoke; sister-in-law, Marie Booth, Roanoke; brother-in-law, W. K. Doss and wife, Irene, Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Beulah Flora and husband, Claude, Roanoke, Pearl Watkins, Roanoke, and Alma Mills, Boones Mill. EDMONDS, Mary Pearl, 93, of Route 2, Max Meadows, the Patterson Community, died Wednesday, July 12, 1995, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Wythe Co., the daughter of the late Luther and Lucy Spencer. She is survived by two sisters, Emma Edmonds and Dorothy Edmonds, both of Rt. 2, Max Meadows; one brother, Warren Edmonds, Rt. 2, Max Meadows; two nieces and one nephew, whom she raised, Jacqueline Edmonds, Rt. 2, Max Meadows, Minnie Belle Dalton and Nelson Edmonds, Rt. 4, Hillsville; one aunt, Ethel Branscome, Rt. 2, Max Meadows; several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 1995, 11 a.m., at the Glenwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Edmonds officiating. Interment will follow in the Charity Church Cemetery. HARE, Daniel Gratt, 69, of Narrows, died Thursday morning, July 13, 1995, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a retired veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having served for 20 years in the Armed Forces. After his retirement, he joined the Narrows Police Department, where he was an officer for 15 years. Prior to his retirement he served as Chief of the Police Department for five years. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post #6000 of Narrows, where he served as Past Commander. He was born in Giles County on September 23, 1925, and was the son of the late Forest W. and Emma Clyde Shrader Hare. He is survived by his wife, Katherine C. Hare, Narrows; a son, Donnie R. Hare, Narrows; a daughter, Bonnie H. Kinzer, Roanoke; a granddaughter, Katie Kinzer, Roanoke; a brother, Douglas Hare, Narrows; and a sister, Clare H. Butler, Lindside, W.Va. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn and the Rev. Rich Painter officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, with graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post #6000 of Narrows. HATTON, Virginia M., (``Pennie""), of Salem, died Thursday, July 13, 1995 following a two year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rev. J. W. Hatton Jr., Roanoke County; daughters and son-in-law, Rehse Wilson, Roanoke, Cindy and Glenn Waldrep, Winchester; grandchildren, Sarah Hauck, Atlanta, Ga., Joshua Waldrep, Kylan Waldrep, Brittany Waldrep, all of Winchester; sisters and brothers, Jewel Bates, Jeanette Robertson, Saing Hofmeister, Wallace White, Patsy Yarbrough, Michael White; also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hatton served as Minister of Music for Fort Lewis Baptist Church, Salem, Keystone Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Hunting Creek Baptist Church, Big Island. She was a member of the Virginia Baptist Womens Chorale, president of Virginia Baptist Ministers Wives Organization. She was the first president of Glenvar Elementary School PTA. She organized the first pre-school program of Fort Lewis Baptist Church, an active member of University Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Fort Lewis Baptist Church, Roanoke County, Delray Baptist Church, Alexandria, Chestnut Avenue Baptist Church, and Keystone Baptist Church, Lynchburg. She was also active in deaf ministries. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 1995 at Fort Lewis Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Sprouse and the Rev. Leonard Southern officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. KING, Frank Roosevelt, 87, of 314 Chestnut St., Pulaski, died Thursday, July 13, 1995, at his home. Born May 8, 1907 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Smith King and Mary Mabe King. Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grubb King, and a son, Dewey ``Buddy"" King. He is survived by one son, Lowell T. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Hobert and Bessie Lineberry Burchett. She was a member of the Ivanhoe Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her husband, Randolph C. SLAGLE, Arnold Cleo, 58, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, July 12, 1995, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Rockbridge County on October 27, 1936, he was the son of Earl and Mary Vest Slagle of Buena Vista. He was employed for 18 years at Washington & Lee University before he established his own business as a plumber. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a member of the Rockbridge County Stroke Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Slagle in 1994. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Beverly ``Dobby"" Camden Slagle, Buena Vista; a daughter, Kristy Slagle, Buena Vista; two sons, Richard ``Ricky"" Arnold Slagle, Long Branch, N. J. and Darrell Slagle, Buena Vista; two very special daughters-in-law, Hilda and Nanette Slagle; a sister, Arlene Hayslette, Buena Vista; two brothers, Lee Slagle and Robert Slagle, both of Buena Vista; three grandchildren, Brittany Slagle, Garrett Slagle and Tamara Proctor. Cundiff and Daisy Lemon Thompson Cundiff. She was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and was a member of the Thaxton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, J. Harold Stevens; a son and daughter-in-law, David Harold and Cheryl (Cookie) Stevens, Bedford; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Cliff Overstreet, Bedford; two sisters, Pauline C. Woodford, Haw River, N.C., Helen C. Stevens, Bedford; two brothers, S. Wallace Cundiff, Vinton, T. Jack Cundiff, Bedford; five grandchildren, Brad and Ryan Stevens, Gina, Doug and Jennifer Overstreet. STRUHS, William Henry, Jr., of Burke, Va., formerly of Charleston, S.C., died Tuesday, July 11, 1995 , in Pulaski, Va. He was born June 18, 1918, a son of the Rev. William Henry Struhs and Marian Sires Struhs. He is survived by his wife, Florence Stevenson Struhs, of Pulaski; two sons, William Henry Struhs, III, of Charleston, S.C. and John Pasco Struhs of New York City; one brother, John Sires Struhs of Columbia, S.C. Mr. Struhs attended Newberry College and graduated from The College of Charleston in 1947. He received his Masters Degree in English from the University of Iowa and Masters Degree in Linguistics from George Mason Univ ersity. He was a retired Personnel Officer with the Department of Interior in Washington, D.C. He also worked in San Francisco, Calif. and American Samoa as well. He remained an active alumni of The College of Charleston, served in the U.S. Navy in WWII in the Pacific, taught English at the Department of Agriculture Graduate School in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia Community College, George Washington University and American University. Graveside service was held Thursday, July 13, at Bethany Cemetery, directed by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, Charleston, S.C.
