TREE TOPPLES, KILLS CUTTER

A Bastian man died Saturday from injuries caused when a tree he was cutting fell on him.

Danny Ray Hull, 36, was helping a neighbor cut a tree when it fell on Hull's back, according to David Gammon, captain of the Bland County Rescue Squad.

Gammon said the tree did not trap Hull, but knocked him down and away.

Hull was taken to Wythe County Community Hospital about 7:15 a.m.; he died shortly after.

The hospital was unable to provide details about Hull's injuries or time of death.
