ANGELA F. RITTER, daughter of Sarah Cline of Roanoke and Ted R. Cline of Goodview, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of staff sergeant. She is a 1984 graduate of William Fleming High School.

SEAMAN RECRUIT NAIMA A. SCOTT, daughter of the Rev. Edward A. Scott of Roanoke, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. She is a 1994 graduate of William Fleming High School.

ARMY PVT. NICOLE C. JORIES, daughter of Edith L. Tinsley of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood, Waynesville, Mo.

Jories is a 1993 graduate of William Fleming High School.

ARMY PVT. JOSEPH H. GORDON, son of Patricia A. Knighton of Ruckersville, has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is a 1992 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS MICHAEL A. MILLER recently participated in a commemoration of the end of World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS America. Miller is the son of Johnny R. and Ruth A. Miller of Roanoke and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1991.
