IN SERVICE

MAJ. JAYSON A. ALTIERI, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Altieri of Fincastle, has earned the Defense Department's military outstanding volunteer service medal.

Altieri is a 1982 graduate of Northside High School and a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the North Carolina Wing's Fayetteville Composite Squadron.

The award recognizes those who perform outstanding volunteer service with tangible results that reflect favorably on the Department of Defense.

PVT. DARRENN D. CLARK, son of Shelia Clark and Darrell Clark of Roanoke, has completed Army basic training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. He is a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

NAVY SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER DOUGLAS C. FLORA, son of Kenneth V. and Sandra P. Flora of Roanoke has returned to San Diego after completing a six-month overseas deployment aboard the USS Topeka.

He is a 1979 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
