MOORE'S NAMES MARKET MANAGER

DAVE GREENE has been promoted to the newly created position of market manager for the Roanoke area for Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies. Greene has been a general manager at Moore's for 23 years. In his new position, he will be responsible for strengthening relationships with professional building contractors through Moore's three Roanoke Valley stores.

Also at Moore's, JACK CRAWFORD, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., has been named general manager of the retailer's Franklin Road store. Crawford has more than 36 years of experience in the building materials industry, 30 of them with Moore's in several locations. Based in Roanoke, Moore's has 52 stores in 10 states.

BANKING

SANDRA LEMONS has been promoted to vice president of the customer information center at First Union National Bank of Virginia in Roanoke. She had been assistant vice president of the center. Lemons joined Dominion Bank, predecessor of First Union in Virginia, as a teller in its Covington branch in 1975. She is a past president of the Covington chapter of Credit Women International and was named Credit Woman of the Year in 1985.

COAL

R. PAGE HENLEY JR. has been elected president of Westmoreland Coal Sales Co., a subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Co., a Philadelphia-based producer and marketer of coal with operations in Western Virginia.

Henley joined Westmoreland in 1984 and is now senior vice president of development. He is also president of Westmoreland Terminal Co., which is part-owner of Dominion Terminal Associates, a coal export facility in Newport News.

COLLEGES

DAVE PARKS has been appointed director of the Salem campus of Virginia College. Prior to the appointment, Parks taught electronics courses at the college. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of electronics and 12 years of teaching and curriculum development experience.

At Virginia Western Community College, ANDREW J. ARCHER has been appointed dean of academic and students affairs effective Aug. 1. He assumes the duties of ROBERT HARRELL, who is retiring after 11 years as dean of the college. Archer joined the Virginia Western mathematics faculty in 1972 and has been chairman of the science and mathematics division since 1976.

FINANCIAL PLANNING

TRUMAN B. COMBITHS, formerly with Invest Financial Corp. at Virginia First Savings Bank, has joined V.I.P. Planners in Roanoke as executive vice president in charge of the new accounts division of the fee-only financial planning firm.

GOVERNMENT

Gov. George Allen has announced appointments to various state boards: WILLIAM K. ANGLIM, president of Medical Facilities of America in Roanoke, has been appointed to the Board of Nursing Home Administrators; F. JERALD KROLL of Bedford County, senior pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg, has been named to the Hemophilia Advisory Board; and LESTER "SKIP" LAMB, president of Radford Community Hospital, has been elected chairman of the State Board of Health.

INSURANCE

ROBERT C. TRETTER, second vice president of group sales and marketing for Shenandoah Life in Roanoke, has been elected second vice president of the National Association of Health Underwriters. The group, based is Washington, D.C., represents more than 12,500 professional insurance benefit advisers and agents.

LAW

L.B. CHANDLER JR., senior partner of Charlottesville-based Chandler, Franklin & O'Bryan law firm with offices in Roanoke and Martinsville, has been named to the board of governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America for a three-year term.

MANUFACTURING

ART WILSON has been named director of design-imports for The Lane Co. Inc. in Altavista. Wilson joined Lane in 1994 as a designer of occasional tables and accents.

RONALD C. EVANS of Rocky Mount, vice president-builder division of Nationwide Homes based in Martinsville, has been appointed to the Building Systems Councils of the National Association of Home Builders for a two-year term.

NONPROFITS

The Council of Community Services, a nonprofit regional human-services planning agency, has elected new officers and board members: JAN B. GARRETT, community volunteer, president; R. DANIEL CARSON JR., Appalachian Power Co., first vice president; W. LEE WILHELM III, J.M. Turner & Co., second vice president; THOMAS B. JONES, John Deere Health Care, third vice president; ROBERT FRANTZ, Signet Bank, secretary; and MICHAEL M. WALDVOGEL, Waldvogel, Poe & Cronk, treasurer.

Elected for a three-year term to the board are Carson; JOE CRAWFORD, Roanoke Electric Steel Corp.; H. CLARKE CURTIS, Hamlar & Curtis Funeral Home; ROBERT H. FETZER, Building Specialists Inc.; SHERMAN HOLLAND, Roanoke business license inspector/auditor; SYDNEY NORDT, community volunteer; and Wilhelm. DIANE DISHER, Kroger Co., filled an unexpired term.
