ANDERSON, Eugene, (``Gene""), 66, of Rt 1, Box 430, of Alton, departed this life for eternal life with Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 5, 1995, 3:03 a.m. from his home. He was born on March 19, 1929 in Waybesboro the son of the late Herman Hall Anderson and Hawsie Truslow Anderson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph and Charles Anderson; and sisters, Tinnie Anderson and Christine Crowe. He was the third generation of the Anderson family to manage for Fox Horn Farm, where he has lived for 64 years. He has great love for horses and farming. He was an active and devoted member of Mountain View Full Gospel Church in Afton, where he formerly served as Sunday School Superintendent. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Virgie Pearline Scott Anderson; four daughters and their husbands, Dolly and Edward Robinson, Charlottesville, Margaret Sullivan, Alfton, Temple and Wayne Hutchinson, Waynesboro, and Judy and William Barker, Waynesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Tammy Ramsey, Afton; his sisters, Elvery Hutchinson, Gordonsville, Eunice Smith, Mechanicsville, Juarnita Orman, Afton; and his twin sister, Gwen Honnoll, Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Earl and Diane Sullivan, Michael and Sandy Sullivan, Ulysses and Freda Sullivan, Karen and Frankie Johnson, Keith and Keron Hutchinson, William and Justin Barker, Jennifer Brooke and Cody Ramsey and Brandon Harris; his great-grandchildren, Eric and Evan Sullivan, Katelyn and Kristen Sullivan, Tiffany and Steven Sullivan, Ader Hutchinson and Sara Johnson. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Full Gospel Church by the Rev. Ronnie Watson and the Rev. Whitney Critizer. Burial will follow at Hebron Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be Karl Dickerson, Arthur Carter, John White, John Payne, Junior Hutchinson, Danny Atkins, Bill Ledford, and Herbert Johnson; honorary pallbears will be nieces and nephews. CLAYTOR, Lera Alice, 88, of Roanoke, formerly of Charleston, W.Va. passed away Sunday August 6, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orestes M. Claytor. Survivors include two nieces, Synetha Anderson, Chula Visa, Calif. and Alice C. Johnson, Roanoke. Friends may call the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home on Wednesday, where the family will receive them 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 306 Washington St., Charleston, W.Va. COX, Bertha Mae Sheppard Price, 92, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, August 6, 1995 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Shawsville. Born in Montgomery County on October 30, 1902, she was a daughter of the late Lincoln Taylor and Rosie Lee Kanode Sheppard. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence S. Price and Charlie F. Cox, and a son, Garland Price. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. Claude (Ruby) Herzig, Ruth and Emory (Ras) Elliott, and Julie B. Reed, all of Blacksburg; nine grandchildren, David Herzig, B lacksburg, Glen Herzig, Alexandria, Linda Elliott, Blacksburg, Brenda D. Farhan, Fairfax, Larry Dean Sheppard and Tommy Lee Sheppard, both of Blacksburg, Robert Wayne Sheppard, Mt. Airy, N.C., Rose Mary Cole and Tina M. GILLIAM, Ruth Ann, 57, of Natural Bridge, died Monday, August 7, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Miss Gilliam was born August 6, 1938 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Smith Payne Gilliam and Susie Aaron Gilliam. Surviving are one sister, Brenda G. Marshall, Moneta; two brothers, Freddie L. Gilliam, Natural Bridge Station, Richard W. Gilliam, Buena Vista; five nieces; two nephews; one great-nephew; one great-niece. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 9, 1995 at 11 a.m. from the graveside at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Donald W. Stine officiating. GILMORE, Walter Harvey, 70, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, August 6, 1995 at his home. A retired employee of APCO's Clinch River Plant in Russell County, he was also a member of Cambria Baptist Church, McDaniel Chapter #86 A.F. & A.M., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Ellen B. Gilmore; one sister, Frances Viers, Radford; several nieces and nephews. McCRAY, Lucille Ellen Wade, 80, of Salem, passed away Sunday, August 6, 1995. She had suffered for some time with Altzheimers, but now she is at peace. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Fred C. McCray and her daughter, Christine Johnson. She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for over 40 years. She was a good mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and David Rettinger of Salem, Brenda and Jerry Vanden Brook of Missouri; one granddaughter, Ellen Rettinger of Salem; a brother and his wife, Warren and Edith Wade of Maryland; her caregiver and friend, Willie Parker of Salem; a very special person, Mae Rettinger of Salem, who helped care for her over the last 2 years. Funeral services were held at the graveside Monday, August 7, 1995, in Cedar Lawn Burial Park, where she was buried beside her husband. The service was conducted by Mr. Richard Bryson of Salem. He was a graduate of Northside High School, a member of Northview United Methodist Church and an employee of the Olive Garden. VANDRESSER, Olcha Emily Lawrence, 103, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan died Sunday, August 6, 1995 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank P. VanDresser. Surviving are two daughters, Leah Rudge, Adele Lindeman; three sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Mitzi VanDresser, William ""Bill"" and Shirley VanDresser, formerly of Blacksburg, currently of Eatonton, Ga., Richard and Barbara VanDresser; thirty grandchildren; thirtyseven great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren. WILSON, Lucy Gusler, 92, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Sunday, August 6, 1995. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, W. H. (Woody) Wilson. She was a native of White Gate, Va., born August 11, 1902. She was a retired teacher. She and her husband made their home in Forth Worth since 1969. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church. Surviving are daughters, Bobbie Reynolds and husband, Roger, Baton Rouge, La., Mary Elaine Matheson and husband, Ben, Fort Forth, Texas; six brothers and sisters; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 1995, in Greenwood Memorial Park, with Father Gayland Poole officiating.
