Quarterback Mike Groh completed 10 of 16 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns, including a 56-yarder to sophomore Germane Crowell, who led all receivers with four receptions for 120 yards.
Place-kicker Rafael Garcia, who was 2-of-5 last season on attempts from 40 to 49 yards, had field goals Friday of 42, 44 and 47 yards.
Wali Rainer, a freshman linebacker, led all tacklers with 13. Another linebacker, redshirt freshman Kirk Willett, had four tackles for loss and a total of 11.

Virginia football recruit Maurice ``Mo'' Anderson has been given permission by the school to rejoin the football team, although he is likely to be redshirted.
Anderson, a 6-foot-4, 264-pound defensive lineman, enrolled in January and played with the first-team defense in UVa's spring game, but he was not listed on the Cavaliers' preseason roster.
Coach George Welsh said last week that Anderson, a 1993 Nottoway High School graduate, had struggled academically. Anderson spent a year at Fork Union Military Academy before meeting NCAA eligibility standards.
John Randolph, the athletic director at William and Mary for the last 10 years, died Friday after a long battle with cancer. He was 53.
A graduate of William and Mary, Randolph was the school's track and field coach from 1968-1976 before going on to the U.S. Military Academy, where he was the track and field coach for three years.
In 1979, Randolph moved to the University of Florida and held a number of international coaching positions, including head coach of the 1993 Pan Am Games track team.
Randolph chaired the NCAA Track and Field Committee for four years and helped prepare the U.S. men's track and field team for the 1984 Olympics.
He also was president of the Colonial Athletic Association in 1988-89.
Former Virginia Tech quarterback Maurice DeShazo, a recent Canadian Football League signee with Calgary, will sign autographs for free Sunday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the sports card show in the Salem Civic Center's Community Room. Free posters and team photos will be available as well.
A 100-lap Enduro Race with a one-hour time limit will share the spotlight with the Late Model Stock Cars tonight in the Pepsi-Cola 200 at New River Valley Speedway.
During the Enduro race, there will be no caution flags, only a red flag to get a driver out of a disabled race car.
The Late Model Stock Cars, with the championship points battle tightening, will go for 100 laps. Floyd's Jeff Agnew has jumped into an 18-point lead over Ray Young of Bassett in the title chase as last week's leader Tony McGuire of Roanoke fell to third.
Gates open at 1:30 p.m. with practice beginning at 3:30. Qualifying is at 6 with the first green flag at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under.
Roanoke's Lindsay Hock, 10, finished second in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Eastern Zone Swimming Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. Hock, representing the Virginia All-Star Team, finished in 1 minute, 28.56 seconds. She finished seventh in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 50 breaststroke. Roanoke's Molly Henderson finished fifth in the 100-meter backstroke.
Virginia currently leads the team standings.
