Police responded to a call about a "drive-by shooting" in the 3900 block of Vermont Avenue Northwest about 1. Inside a house, they found the 14-year-old, who had a gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach. Police said the two boys originally told them the shooting occurred as the 14-year-old crossed a gate in his front yard. Later, police said the boys told them the shooting was accidental.
Police are not releasing the names of the two teen-agers involved because they are juveniles.
The victim was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital; his condition was unknown. No charges have been filed.

A 51-year-old Southeast man said he was slashed by his neighbor early Sunday after he told the neighbor that he was making too much noise. The neighbor fled and had not been arrested as of Monday afternoon.
Police said the 51-year-old man told them he had taken a knife to confront his neighbor, then the neighbor grabbed the knife, slashing the man. The man was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
A man appearing to carry a handgun with a towel draped over it robbed the Wendy's restaurant at 1612 Hershberger Road N.W. early Sunday. The man approached two employees while they were by the Dumpster and told them to go back inside. He then took a bank bag filled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled on foot. No one was injured.
Sunday night, two men robbed a 14-year-old at gunpoint in the Landsdowne Park housing development. At about 6:11, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were walking in the 2400 block of Center Avenue Northwest when a yellow car stopped near them. Two men asked about drugs, got of the car, brandished handguns and demanded money. The men took $60 from the 14-year-old. No one was injured.
A 17-year-old Northwest Roanoke boy reported that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday by two men. Police said the teen-ager told them he was at a party at a house on Forest Park Boulevard Northwest when two men with handguns jumped out of a car. They took $35 in cash and a gold necklace from the teen-ager and fled.
A 34-year-old Southeast Roanoke woman was abducted by a man driving an "old black Pinto" early Friday, according to police reports. The woman was walking in the 3000 block of King Street Northeast about 5:30 a.m. when a man grabbed her in a choke hold and pulled her into his car. She freed herself and jumped from the car at King Street and Belle Avenue Northeast. The woman hid in the median as the man tried to find her. She walked home after the incident.
