Former Virginia Tech player Scott Davis and former Southern Mississippi assistant Greg Elliott have joined Bill Foster's basketball staff at Virginia Tech.

Davis, who graduated in 1990, will be an assistant coach. He replaces Dean Keener, who left for an assistant's job at Southern Methodist.

Elliott assumes a new position as administrative assistant.

Bobby Hussey and Chris Ferguson, who have been at Tech since Foster became coach in 1991, remain on the Hokies staff.

Peggy Sells, who guided South Carolina-Spartanburg to an .860 winning percentage and three consecutive NCAA Division II tournament berths, is the new women's basketball coach at Virginia Commonwealth.

Richard Sander, VCU's director of athletics, said Tuesday that Sells was chosen after a nationwide search to replace Susan Walvius, who resigned in June to become the coach at West Virginia. Walvius, a former player at Virginia Tech, last season led the Lady Rams to a 20-10 record and the women's NIT, the program's first postseason bid.

Bobby Moranda, who was an assistant baseball coach at Virginia for six seasons, has been hired as an assistant coach at Wake Forest. Moranda, who played at Eastern Kentucky in the mid-1980s, will be the Deacons' pitching coach.
