DUBLIN - New River Community College offers a wide variety of continuing education computer courses for the fall semester, including Introduction to Personal Computers. Many classes are offered during the evening for the convenience of students who work during the day.
Classes include word processing for beginning, intermediate and advanced users (both Microsoft Word 6.0 and WordPerfect 5.1 and 6.1 for Windows).
Other offerings teach students how to use PowerPoint presentation software for Windows, spreadsheet and database programs and Microsoft Windows.

Physics course at NRCC
DUBLIN - A new and fun physics course is being offered at New River Community College in the fall.
Physics-R-Us will introduce students to physics and how it works everyday life. The class does not require math.
The four-credit course will be taught by Caisy Ho, assistant professor of physics at the college. The course will transfer as a lab science course to Radford University and as a liberal arts science course to Virginia Tech.
Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 1, with special permission of Ho. The lecture portion of the course meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 12:50 p.m. and the lab meets each Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Sunfish winter season
BLACKSBURG - End of summer does not mean end of swim season.
The Blacksburg Sunfish swim team will have registration for the fall and winter season Sept. 5-8 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Blacksburg Aquatic Center.
School-age swimmers and their parents can meet team coaches, swimmers and parents during registration.
The Sunfish offer New River Valley swimmers the opportunity to compete at all levels of competitive swimming. Experienced coaches teach the basics of starts and turns and all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke). Practices are held after school at the Blacksburg Aquatic Center weekdays and at Virginia Tech's War Memorial Gym on weekends.
