BROWN, Clarence Burnell, (``Scrappy""), 75, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, August 24, 1995. Survivors include his wife, Vivian T. Brown; one son, Robert Lewis Carter; two daughters, Karen Kimbrough, Marilyn Dudley, all of Roanoke; two stepsons, Rodney Taborn, Roanoke, Renwick Taborn, Troutville; four stepdaughters, Adelaide (Harold) Dennis, Rhonda Hilton, Rochelle Taborn, all of Roanoke, Renata Taborn, Grundy; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Juanita Brown, Roanoke; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. BUTT, Mildred Pugh, 84, of Salem, passed away Thursday, August 24, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Haley Butt. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Myrtle Butt and David Hoover, Blue Ridge, Sadie Butt Wells, Salem; granddaughters, Susan Hoover Nester, Roanoke, Cathy Hoover, Vinton; great-granddaughter, Kelly Jeane King, Roanoke; great-grandsons, John Michael King, Blue Ridge, Michael Blake Davis, Vinton; sister, Frances Pugh Brown, Moneta; brother, Joseph H. CONNER, Alvin Otey, 73, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 24, 1995. Mr. Conner was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired state employee. He was a son of the late W.A.F. (Bill) and Ida Stanley Conner and also was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bush Conner, and a brother, Bobby L. Conner. Surviving are three s isters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Hugh Main, Annie and Charles Thacker, Hasseltine (Tina) and Guy Funk, all of Roanoke; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, W.A.F. Jr. (Bill) and Regina Conner, Raleigh, N.C., Galen and Laura Conner, Becky Conner, all of Vinton; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, August 28, 1995, with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. DONALD, Shirley O., 57, of Goode, passed away Friday, August 25, 1995. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday, Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.

FRANKLIN, Norman Luke Sr, 88, of Richmond, died Wednesday, August 23, 1995 in a local hospital. He is survived by his son, Norman L. Franklin Jr; a brother, John H. Franklin; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Mr. Franklin received his B.S. degree in Dairy Science from V.P.I. in 1930 and devoted more than 35 years to Virginia's dairy industry, retiring in 1972. He served as Director of the Dairy and Food Division, and was presented the Dairy Science Achievement Award from his alma mater in 1965. Mr. Franklin spent 41/2 years of active duty in the Army Air Force during World War II, and retired from the Reserve Program in 1960 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. His remains rest at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke.

FULCHER, John Terrell Sr., 84, of 1113 Cherokee Trail, Martinsville, died Friday, August 25, 1995, at his residence. He was born in Patrick Springs on March 28, 1911, the son of the late William Timothy Fulcher and Alice West Fulcher. He was the retired Secretary-Treasurer of Hooker Furniture Co. with 62 years service. He is survived by his wife, Louise Marion Fulcher of the home; daughter, Mrs. Fred L. (``Bitsy'') Morgan, Asheville, N.C.; son, John T. Fulcher Jr., Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Mrs. Alice Brown, Roanoke, Mrs. Frances Atheson, Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Richard S. Fulcher, Stuart; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allison, and Ashley Morgan, all of Asheville, N.C. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Martinsville. Interment will be in Critz Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Bapt ist Church, Martinsville, or Critz Baptist Church, Critz.

HARRIS, Mabel Terry, 90, of Roanoke, formerly of Richmond, died Friday, August 25, 1995. She was a retired supervisor for Leggett & Myers Tobacco Company in Richmond. She was the widow of Thomas B. Harris and is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Beulah T. and Andrew W. Atkins, Roanoke; two stepsons; eight nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The body will be taken to Bliley Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel, Richmond, on Sunday for burial.

MORRISON, Robert Leech, 85, of Troutville, died Friday, August 25, 1995, at the Brian Center Nursing Care. He was born December 29, 1909, in Rockbridge County a son of the late J. Wilson and Margaret Hull Morrison. He was a 33 Mason and was a member of Boone Masonic Lodge #247 A.F. & A.M., Lakeland Masonic #190 A.F. & A.M., Webber High 12 Masonic Lodge #282 A.F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 22 Masonic District, Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies, Kazim Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Murray Royal Arch Chapter #22, Bayard Commandery #15 and Electra Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Opal McClure Morrison of Troutville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Rebecca J. Morrison of Fincastle; several nieces and nephews; and the Brian Center family of Fincastle. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 27, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Rader Troutville Chapel with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Masonic Funeral Rites will be conducted by Boone Masonic Lodge #247 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery.
