Cornette anniversary

Bill and Christine Cornette celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on August 26th. The celebration was held at Hotel Roanoke and was hosted by their children. The couple was married August 26, 1955, at Calvary Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va. Mrs. Cornette is the former Christine Yates. The couple's children are Ellen St. Clair and husband Dale, Cloverdale, Va., Rosemary Blankenship and husband Lewis, Roanoke, Va. They have five grandchildren. Mr. Cornette is retired from Norfolk & Western Railway. They are members of Bonsack Baptist Church.

Donnelly anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Grayson Donnelly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 16, 1995 at the home of Genevieve Morgan. It was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Donnelly, Sr. and Ms. Morgan.

The couple were married July 8, 1935 in Pearisburg, Va. Mrs. Donnelly is the former Virginia Mae Keister. Mr. Donnelly is retired from the Radford Arsenal.

Mr. and Mrs. Donnelly have one son, John, of Radford, Va.; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Gottshall anniversary

Retired Church of the Brethren minister, J. Richard Gottshall and his wife, Doris H. Gottshall celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by attending a surprise reception held at Central Church of the Brethren on Saturday, August 26, 1995. The couple were married August 30, 1945 at the Pottstown Church of the Brethren, Pottstown, Pa. The reception was hosted by daughters, Hope E. Gottshall of Vinton; Joy A. Gottshall of Greensboro, N.C., and Jill G. Mooney with special help from son-in-law, Ronald L. Mooney and grandchil dren, Ryan and Brooke Mooney, all of Roanoke. In attendance were family and friends from Virginia, N.C., Pa., N.J., and West Virginia

Helm anniversary

Mawyer E. and Hilda B. Helm of Elliston, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 25, 1995. He is a lifetime resident of Elliston and she has resided there for 45 years.

The couple has three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom would like to thank them for the years of Love and Support.

Leake anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Leake, Jr., celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, August 26th, 1995. They were married September 8, 1945 in Alexandria, Va., by Dr. H.P. Clarke.

Mrs. Leake is the former Florence Thierry of Roanoke and is a retired teacher. Mr. Leake served in the Naval Air Corps and is a retired manager of Camp Alta Mons in Shawsville.

A reception in their honor was given by their children at White Memorial United Methodist Church in Shawsville, where Mr. and Mrs. Leake are members.

Meeks anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Elbert A. Meeks, Jr., (Sugar and Jun), celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, August 22, 1995. A lovely celebration was held at the Vinton War Memorial on August 20th with many wonderful friends and family attending. She is the former Louise Markham. The couple has one son, Mark A. Meeks.
