Henrickson, a native of Willmar, Minn., worked for seven years under Tech coach Carol Alfano. Henrickson came to Tech as an assistant coach in 1988 and was promoted to associate head coach in 1993.
One of Henrickson's responsibilities with the Hokies was to coach the post players. One of her star players, Jenny Root, was named Metro Conference player of the year last season.
``We will really miss Bonnie at Virginia Tech,'' Alfano said. ``She did an outstanding job in all aspects of our program, from recruiting to scouting to coaching on the floor. We think Iowa got a great person.''
Henrickson graduated from St.Cloud State University in 1986 and received a master's degree from Western Illinois in 1988.

Boston College football coach Dan Henning will be the guest speaker at the next Roanoke Valley Sports Club meeting, a luncheon gathering in concert with the weekly Salem Rotary Club meeting on Sept.7 at the Salem Civic Center.
Henning's team plays at Virginia Tech several hours later in the Hokies' season opener, a Thursday night ESPN telecast date. Henning, a former NFL head coach in Atlanta and San Diego and ex-Tech and Washington Redskins assistant coach, will speak after a noon buffet meal.
Rotarians desiring to hear Henning should attend under the same circumstances as other Rotary meetings. The luncheon is $10 for sports club members and $15 for guests.

The NASCAR SuperTruck Series makes its debut at Martinsville Speedway on Sept.23 with the $156,955 Goody's 150. On Sept.24, Martinsville will play host to the Goody's 500 Winston Cup race.

Goals by Cory Carroll, Kieran Gonzalas and Sean Mercer lifted Roanoker Star White U-14 to a 3-1 win over the Vista Highlanders in the Virginia Cup soccer tournament in Richmond on Sunday.
In Lynchburg, Drew Connor and Vinny Mascitelli scored goals as the U-10 Roanoke Star beat the Shenandoah Scorpions 2-0 in the championship game of the Region 2000 Tournament. Travis Bryant led the Star with four goals during the tourney. Harris Blythe and Jared Price each had three.
Also, Nathan Mahan scored on a penalty kick as the Salem Sabres U-11 Grey team beat the New River Rangers 1-0 in the title game.
