Entries are being accepted for the Olde Salem Days Auto Show to be held Sept. 9.

The show, presented by the Salem Jaycees and the Roanoke Valley Antique Automobile Club, is open to any vehicle made in or before 1975.

The entry fee ranges from $10 to $12. Entry forms are available at Brooks-Byrd Pharmacy, the Salem Chamber of Commerce and the College Avenue Texaco in Salem.

Orientation planned at Roanoke schools

The Roanoke school system will hold orientation for new students, beginning kindergarten pupils and rising sixth- and ninth-graders.

The kindergarten orientation will be held today at 10 a.m.; the sixth-grade orientation will be held Friday, 7:30 to 10 a.m.; and the ninth-grade orientation will be Friday, 8:30 to 11 a.m. All orientation sessions will be held at the school the student will attend in the 1995-96 school year.
