Lister completed 15-of-22 passes for 207 yards. He also carried the ball five times for 21 yards. The last shutout loss for Ferrum was 42-0 to Western Carolina in 1992.
Ferrum quarterback Millard Vining had 17 completions in 34 attempts for 176 yards. He was also the Panthers' leading rusher with 47 yards on 14 carries. Tight end Mike Souma was the leading receiver with eight catches for 69 yards.

James Madison (1-0), ranked No. 7 among Division 1-AA teams, led 49-7 at the half.
Jeter, who carried the ball 17 times, scored on runs of 11, 6, 14, 13 and 28 yards. Mike Cawley completed 12 of his 19 passes for 192 yards and a 21-yard touchdown to Jay Jones. Cawley also scored on an 11-yard run.
Hampton 42, Morehouse 14: In Atlanta, Matt Williams passed for six touchdowns, four going to Mike Jenkins, to lead Hampton to its first victory as a Division I-AA school.
Williams hit Jenkins on a 13-yard play and connected with Lamont Still on a 14-yarder in the second quarter as the Pirates took a 14-0 lead at halftime.
Morehouse made it 14-6 on a 19-yard touchdown catch by Spencer Moore at 11:34 in the third period, but Williams responded with tosses of 17 and 14 yards to Jenkins to close out the quarter for a 28-6 lead.
Williams and Jenkins connected again on a 69-yard play at 12:46 of the final quarter to make it 35-6.
