HOME DAMAGED BY FIRE

An early-morning fire Sunday heavily damaged a Southwest Roanoke home in the midst of renovations.

The two-story house at 621 Day Ave. S.W. caught fire about 3:30 a.m., according to Roanoke District Fire Chief Bobby Slayton. Most of the estimated $50,000 damage was in the rear of the building.

No one was injured in the fire. The building was unoccupied.

No cause has been determined for the fire, but it is under investigation, Slayton said.
