HEARING TODAY ON U.S. 221

The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors will have a public hearing on proposed improvements to U.S. 221 at 7 p.m. today at the Brambleton Center.

After about a year of public hearings and informational meetings, Virginia Department of Transportation District Administrator Fred Altizer Jr. has recommended further study of corridors on both sides of the creek before a final route is chosen.

Supervisors may choose to support Altizer's recommendation, as suggested by County Administrator Elmer Hodge, or recommend keeping construction in the existing roadbed, as the majority of citizens at VDOT's public hearings suggested.

Those wishing to speak at the meeting must call the administration office at 772-2005 before the meeting or register at the Brambleton Center.
