Christopher Kilondo Laieke of the 100 block of P.T. Travis Avenue was sentenced in Radford Circuit Court on Tuesday. Earlier this summer, Laieke pleaded guilty to four charges of distributing cocaine and two charges of grand larceny.
Laieke was among eight men indicted March 20 by a grand jury on charges of distributing crack cocaine, but he already was in jail by then on a previous conviction. An additional distribution count came after Laieke brought cocaine into the city jail last November while serving weekends on an earlier General District Court conviction, Commonwealth's Attorney Randal Duncan said last month.
Laieke also was arrested last December on charges of stealing a church van and a car stereo in the spring of 1994.
Tuesday, Circuit Judge Duane Mink gave Laieke 10 years in prison on each conviction, for a total of 60 years. But after serving three years for each drug conviction, Laieke will be released from prison and placed on probation.
