AKERS, Cora Lee, (``Granny""), 83, of Wytheville, died Saturday, September 16, 1995. Funeral 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel.

BACKMAN, Roy Leighton, 73, of Buchanan, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 at his home. He was a member of the Buchanan Baptist Church, the American Legion Post #93 of Buchanan, a retired member of the Buchanan Fire Dept., and was a retired mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Irene C. Backman of Buchanan, two daughters, Sybil LaVonne B. Lloyd of Garland, Texas, Jennifer Nannette Backman of Richmond; one sister; Margaret Arthur of Salem; one brother, Ivan Backman of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Grace Lloyd Parks, Jessica Candace Lloyd, Benjamin Leighton Lloyd, Joshua William Lloyd; and one great-grandson, Padraic Michael Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at 3 p.m. at the Buchanan Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Woody and Rev. Leonard Southern officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ra der Funeral Home in Buchanan.

CALLOWAY, Gracie Lee, 67, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, September 14, 1995. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday, Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

CRANE, Rev. James William, 61, of Culpeper, died Friday, September 15, 1995, at York Hospital in York, Pa. Rev. Crane was born August 6, 1934, in West Virginia to Dr. W. L. Crane and the late Ada Mae McMillion Crane. Rev. Crane was the pastor at Cedar Run Baptist Church for the last 10 years, former pastor at Gourdvine Baptist Church for more than nine years and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Association. He was employed by Schewel Furniture Company for 12 years and Farm Chronicle Newspaper for the last five years. He also was a member of The Circus Model Builders of America. Besides his father, he is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Phyllis Sharpe Crane, and six children, Alan Crane, Franklinton, N.C., Bruce Crane and Suzanne Carter, Youngsville, N.C., Reba Boyd, Christiansburg, Kim Smith, Warrenton, and Anthony Rumley, Richmond. Rev. Crane also is survived by nine grandchildren, Amanda and Hunter Carter; Morgan, Christy and Adam Crane, and Amber, Anthony, Aaron and Andrew Boyd. Additional survivors include his mother-in-law, Avis Sharpe Light, Martinsville, and a sister-in-law, Wanda Strachan, Martinsville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, September 18, 1995, at Found and Sons Funeral Home, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. DAVIS, Kenneth Lyle, 80, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 16, 1995. He was the son of the late David Atwood Davis and Lena H. Davis of Jeffersontown, Ky. He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister, a daughter and a grandson. He was an elder of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, and was a past president of the Raleigh Court Lions Club. A graduate of Jeffersontown High School in Kentucky, he attended Eastern State Teachers College in Richmond, Ky. He was a general agent for Atlantic Life Insurance Co. and Southwestern Life Insurance Co. from 1953 to 1978, and was a member of the Chartered Life Underwriters (C.L.U.). He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alpha G. Davis, Roanoke; a sister, Kathryn D. Blakely, Playa del Rey, Calif.; two sons and daughters-in-law, David V. and Jewell D. Davis, Roanoke, Dennis J. and Penne S. Davis, Alexandria, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 1995, at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, 1837 Grandin Road, with the Rev. Tupper Garden and the Rev. Gene Edmunds officiating. FEAZELLE, Sarah Anne Nelson, 32, of Roanoke, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 in a local hospital. Funeral services 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. Randy J. Garner and the Rev. Michael Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Franklin County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.

FOSTER, Henry C., 88, of Roanoke, died Friday, September 15, 1995 at his home. He was the son of the late Louis N. and Sallie Haden Foster. Mr. Foster was a life long and active member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and the Baraca Class. He was previously a member of the Elks Club. Mr. Foster began his career in engineering with Virginia Bridge Works and Norfolk and Western Railway. In 1958 he joined the Rish Equipment Company in Salem, retiring in 1971. He was known for his woodworking and gardening. Family and friends were the beneficiaries of his talents throughout his life. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Miller Foster; two daughter and sons-in-law, Elizabeth F. and Allyn Beardsell of Gettysburg, Pa. and Catherine F. and Charles Skala of Union Hall, Va.; three granddaughters, Catherine Champion of Clinton, N.Y., Ellyn Floyd of Quebec, Canada, and Sarah Wilde of San Diego, Calif.; two grandsons, Mark Beardsell of Providence, R.I. and David Wilde of Fullerton, Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Floyd of Quebec, Canada; two sisters, Winifred F. Balley and Northie F. Thomas, both of Roanoke and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received by the family at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Monday, Septemebr 18, 1995 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

GALL, Rebecca Elizabeth Heckman, 91, of Marion, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home. She was a professional grandmother and a master pie maker. She was preceded in death by a son, Theodore Albert Gall Jr., a daughter, Ella Mae Gall, and a grandson, Timothy Scott Gall. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Theodore A. ``Pap"" Gall Sr. of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Suzanne and Vincent Sukle of Marion; one son, Arthur Richard Gall Sr. of West Deer Township, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, Linda Roscoe, Theodore A. Gall III, Kathy Snow, Mark Gall, Laura Sukle, Jason Sukle, Elizabeth Sukle, Arthur Gall Jr., Tracy Trevellini, Geneen Gall, Noreen Gall, Jill Paskorz and Jennifer Gall; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. HOTINGER, Clarence Wilson, 83, of Lexington, died Saturday, September 16, 1995, at his residence. Born July 14, 1912 in Rockbridge Co., he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Hotinger and Josephine Goodbar Hotinger. Mr. Hotinger was a retired Diary Farmer and was a member of Collierstown Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ernestine C. Hotinger, Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Calvin Cummings, Lexington; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Myrtle Hotinger, Lexington; two grandsons and wives, Larry and Teresa Cummings, Lexington, Jerry and Penny cummings, Harrisonburg; two great-granddaughters, Christina and Erika Cummings, Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at 11 a.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Brad Langdon officiating. LEEK, Stella Lewis, 74, widow of John Henry Leek, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her only granddaughter, Lindsay Blevins. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kerry (Debbie) Blevins of Thomasville, Ga.; two sons, Lewis H. Leek of Fancy Gap and Rev. John S. Leek of Jefferson, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, with the Rev. Grady Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. LEMON, Lena M., 93, of Salem, Va., formerly of Troutville, died Saturday, September 16, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey George Lemon and one daughter, Dorothy Williams. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by two sons, James Lemon of Orlando, Fla., Lewis Lemon of Wetumpka, Ala.; four daughters, Frances Reynolds of Harrisonburg, Eunice Parrott of Harrisonburg, Edna McDaniel of Gloucester, Virginia Kennedy of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at the Rader Troutville Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Kingery officiating. Interment will follow in the Troutville Cemetery. McGHEE, Buford E., of Route 1, Vinton, died Saturday, September 16, 1995. He was born August 21, 1911 in Franklin County. Mr. McGhee was predeceased by his wife, Turena Thomas McGhee. Survivors inlcude three daughters and sons-in-law, Bridget M. and Bill Stovall of Floyd, Ona Phyllis and Steve Allen and Emily M. and Steve Nelson, both of Roanoke; three sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar Harold and Kathy McGhee, Luther Douglas and Janet McGhee, both of Vinton and Clifton Dudley and Ellen McGhee of Silver Springs, Fla.; three sisters, Ferne M. Slaughter and Sue M. Crumpacker both of Roanoke, Shirley M. Null of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Ralph D. McGhee of Austinville, and Brooks McGhee of Goodview; two step brothers, Clyde Rankins of South Bend, La. and Bob Rankins of Vinton; 17 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight step great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 18, 1995 at the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Ed West and Rev. Berkley Stevens officiating. McGUIRE, Lewis Wilson (``Woodrow""), 80, of Hardy, passed away Saturday, September 16, 1995. He was retired from H&R Interiors. He was a charter member of White Rock Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for more than 38 years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Amos McGuire; a son and daughter-in-law, Winston S. and Judy McGuire, Boones Mill; two daughters and a son-in-law, Madeline Bowles, Roanoke, Linda and Bobby Quam, Vinton; five grandchildren and spouses, Steve and Liz McGuire, Jeffrey and Tammy McGuire, Mike and Denise McGuire, Alisa and Jim Cooper, Sherry and Joe Greene; four great-grandchildren, Terry McGuire, Timothy McGuire, Christopher McGuire, Tiffany McGuire, and three sisters, Callie Clodfelter, Elsie Amos and Ida Mae Ridgeway, Roanoke; three si sters-in-law, Beulah McGuire, Stewartsville, Julia McGuire, Roanoke, Flonnie Bolling, Vinton. PERKINS, Robert Lynn Jr., 35, of 732 West Parklin Dr., Covington, died Friday, September 15, 1995, as the result of an automobile accident. He was the husband of Brenda Martin Perkins. Born on February 10, 1960, in Alleghany County, he was a son of Robert L. Perkins Sr. and Brenda Warwick Perkins of 314 North Lexington Ave., Covington. He was a 1978 graduate of Covington High School and a 1985 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mr. Perkins had been a member of the Covington Cougar football team while in high school, and was very active with the area youth league sports program including Big League baseball. He was a technical services representative with Westvaco Inc. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Shawn Martin Perkins, and a daughter, Jessica Maree Perkins, both at home, and two brothers, Ronnie Woods Perkins, Iron Gate, and Randal Lee Perkins, Radford. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen King and the Rev. Norman A. Crews officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Allen Dressler, B. B. Bryant, Paul Crizer, Wayne Lawson, W. O. Dressler, Ronnie Shue, Jim Givens and Tom Shelton. RUNION, Les Calvin, 86, of Check, died Sunday, September 17, 1995. He was born in Brocks Gap (Rockingham County) in 1909. Les was a member and deacon of Floyd Baptist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge #329 in Floyd and the Check Ruritan Club. He was a dedicated farmer, and was instrumental in establishing the Virginia Farm Bureau in Floyd County and served as their insurance advisor for 10 years. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Glenna Angle Runion, Check; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Violet and Cliff Carpenter, Brandon, Fla., Hilda Swisher, Orlando, Fla.; two nephews, Richard Hafeman, Brandon, Fla., Robert Fortune, Orlando, Fla., and four great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Floyd Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Womack officiating.
