Felicia Miller scored 16 points and Charity Bryant had 10 for the Minnettes. Cowlbeck grabbed 15 rebounds.
Jacquie Gibson scored 11 points for Jefferson Forest (5-1, 5-1).
Rustburg 49, Staunton River 48: Courtney Cowart hit a 3-pointer with one second left as the Red Devils (4-2, 4-2) beat the Golden Eagles (2-3, 2-3) in a Seminole District game.
Parry McCluer 39, Bath County 37: In Hot Springs, the Blues held the Chargers to three points in the second quarter and won their Pioneer District opener. Parry McCluer (4-2, 1-0) was led by Lindsay Coleman and Crystal Humphries with 12 points each.
Melanie Woods led Bath County with 11 points.
Radford 53, Fort Chiswell 41: In Radford, Crystal Hubbard had her second double-double in as many games with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and the Bobcats (6-2) posted a non-district victory over the Pioneers (0-6).
Charlee Taylor scored a game-high 17 points for Radford, and Jenny Greco contributed 11 points. Amber Gunter led Fort Chiswell with 12 points and Kristen Harmon had 11.
Narrows 61, Giles 49: The Green Wave outscored Giles 20-6 in the second quarter to seize control of a non-district game in Pearisburg. Bud Lucas led Narrows (5-0) with 14 points, and Melissa Lawrence and Suzanne Webb added 11 each. Gina Claytor had 14 points and Kristen White chipped in 13 for the Spartans.
Galax 55, Auburn 45: Galax guards Mindy McGrady and Tiffany Williams teamed for nine steals and 27 points to lead the host Maroon Tide to the non district victory. Tammy Cox added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Galax. Crystal Moles scored 12 and Anna Smith 11 for Auburn.
Martinsville 74, Fieldale-Collinsville 56: Tresita Holland scored eight of her18 points while sparking a third quarter surge that carried the Bulldogs to the Piedmont District victory. Erica Brandon had 17 points and Tonya Martin 11 for Martinsville. Fieldale-Collinsville (5-3, 4-1) was led by Yvonne Hall with 20.
Tunstall 64, Magna Vista 57: In Dry Fork, the Trojans outscored the Warriors 22-8 in the decisive third period. Melissa Dixon led Tunstall with a game-high 20 points. Sandi Reed was the top scorer for Magna Vista with 17 and Tanisha Kellam added 10.
Bassett 66, Gretna 38: The Bengals outscored the Hawks by 17 points in the first quarter and that was all they needed to post a Piedmont District win. Lynetta Johnson had 18 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists for Bassett. Heather Miller claimed team-high scoring honors with 21 points to go along with her six assists.
Laurel Park 80, Dan River 29: The Lancers (3-3, 3-1) had four double-figure scorers and routed the visiting Wildcats (0-5, 0-5) 52-12 in the second and third quarters on the way to the Piedmont District victory.
Glenvar 71, Covington 39: The Highlanders cruised behind Erika Hale's 24 points. Amy Layman scored 14 points and Amanda Kenndey added 12. Joann Helton led Covington with 14 points. Michelle Jeter had 11.
Highland 43, Craig County 41: The Rams used balanced scoring to beat the Rockets in a Pioneer District game in New Castle. Amy Neil and Cindy Worcester led Highland (1-3) with nine points each. Laura Nelson led Craig County (0-4) with 15 points.
Alleghany 63, James River 60: At Buchanan, Natasha Chapman scored 23 points and Katie Craft had 18 as the Mountaineers held off the Knights. Julie Firebaugh and Sara Mundy scored 16 points and Melissa Baker had 10 for James River (0-6). Alleghany is 5-3.
Rural Retreat 61, John Battle 27: Jane Grubb had 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the Indians to a Hogoheegee District victory. Danielle Dix had 13 points and Kristie Osborne added 11 as Rural Retreat remained unbeaten (6-0, 4-0).
Blacksburg 51, Northside 50: Blacksburg's Andrea Feret hit a 6-foot jump shot with 18 seconds left to lift the Indians. April Rogers scored 14 and Feret 12 for Blacksburg (3-6). Northside was paced by Crystal Barrett with 14 and Rosse Hopkins with 10.
Marion 55, Christiansburg 33: At Marion, Stacy Miller had 12 points in a winning effort for the Scarlet Hurricane (4-2). Christiansburg (3-5) was led by Lisa Dalton's 13 points.
