SMITH, Catherine, 46, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 1995. Survivors include one son, Willis William Smith of New Jersey; three sisters, Lillie Belle (Willie) Arline, Atlantic City, N.J., Peggy Ann Brown and Susie Virginia (Clarence Eugene) Gravely, all of Roanoke; three brothers, Paul Jr. Smith, Roanoke, Jerome Ernest Smith, Washington, D.C., John Ceasar Smith, Glenarcken, Md.; grandmother, Sarah Terry; a devoted friend, Eleanore patterson, both of Roanoke; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 1995, at 2 pm. in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel, with Elder R. K. Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Williams Memorial park. CRAWFORD, Cornelia Ridgeway, (Mrs. Oliver H.), 79, of Salem, passed away Thursday, September 28, 1995 in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver H. Crawford, and her sister, Mabel Obenchain. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Karen Crawford; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Dalaski; five grandchildren, Amy and Elizabeth Crawford, Jeffrey Grasty, Crystal and Frank Wilkins; two sisters, Ruby Mills and Beatrice Brown. She was an active member of Red Hill Baptist Church and Rosalind Hills Garden Club. Services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 1995. The Rev. Gary Kingery will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bandy Cemetery, Roanoke County. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. DAVIDSON, Daniel Leonard, 67, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, September 27, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born January 13, 1928 in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Daniel Littleton and Effie Tyler Davidson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Waldron Davidson. He is survived by a daughter, Sabrina D. Cumbee, Hillsville; a stepdaughter, Patricia Jo Dickens, Christiansburg; a brother, Sheldon L. Davidson, Buena Vista; two granddaughters. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, September 29, at the Lomax Funeral Chapel, Buena Vista, with the Rev. John (``Art'') Brumit officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

DAVIS, Charlita Alva, 43, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, September 22, 1995. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church. The Rev. Dwight O. EASTER, Autra Largen, 79, of Austinville, passed away Thursday, September 28, 1995 at Blue Ridge Highlands Nursing Home, Galax. She was born April 26 1916, daughter of the late Amos Largen and Josephine Goad Largen. She is survived by her husband, Ward Easter, Austinville; son, Christian Ward Easter, Austinville; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Autra and Cecil Hawkins, Galax; four sisters, Mattie Franklin, Radford, Clyde Dalton, Galax, Fannie Horton, Dugspur, Hassie Taylor, Radford; grandson, Robert Ward Hawkins; granddaughter, Heather Autra Hawkins. FERRELL, Earl E., 74, of Lebanon, died Thursday, September 28, 1995, at Richfield Retirement Center in Roanoke. A native of West Virginia, he had lived in Lebanon for 36 years. He was a retired shift operations engineer for Appalachian Power Company at the Clinch River Plant, and was a member of Spring City Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Tom Ferrell. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opal Ellis Ferrell, Roanoke; one son, Bob Ferrell, Roanoke; one brother, Kenneth Richard Ferrell, Albany, N.Y.; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Russell County Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Logan officiating. Entombment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Clarence Browning, Dorus Campbell, Elwood Garrett, Jim Saunders, Norman Bass and Jack Blackenship. FRY, Andrew Rudell, 84, of Rt. 1, Crockett, died Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late Edmond J. and Laura Waddle Fry. He was a Wythe County farmer and a lifelong member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, and Superintendent a nd was a trustee of Mt. Mitchell Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Grubb Fry. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudine and Rodney Steffey, Rt. 1, Pulaski, Mildred and Ted Miller, Rt. 1, Crockett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert (``A.R.'') and Shirley Fry, Rt. 2, Wytheville, Edward and Juanita Fry, Wytheville; a half sister, Helen Deel, Danville; a half brother, Donell Fry, Rural Retreat; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 1995 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Johnson and the Rev. Dale Wyrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Mitchell Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. HODGE, Hazel Alderman, 84, of Back Creek Community, Pulaski, and formerly of Barren Springs, died Wednesday, September 27, 1995 at her home. She was born in Carroll County, February 14, 1911 and was the daughter of the late Isaac Jefferson and Grace Gardner Alderman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Washington Hodge, a son, Jessie Everett Hodge, and a grandson, Todd Douglas Gregory. Family and friends will always remember her radiant smile, good country cook ing and quilts, into which she put love in every stitch. She was a member of the Thornspring United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, James I. Hodge, Richmond; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary G. Akers, Pulaski, Ann and Jerry Hall, Dublin, Christine and Sheldon Taylor, Pulaski, Sylvia and J.B. LUCAS, James M., of Roanoke, died Wednesday, September 22, 1995. He was retired from Macke-Service America Corp. after 33 years of service. He was presently C.E.O. of Crest Manufacturing. Mr. Lucas was an Army Veteran of World War II. METZLER, Mark Robinson, 15, of Vinton died Thursday, September 28,1995, from a milignant brain tumor. Surviving are his mother and step father, Sally and Sam Shutt; brother, Chris Shutt; also surviving are his father, Fred Metzler; step mother, Kathy Metzler; step sisters, Joyce Metzler, Carrie Anderson; and his grandparents, Peggy and Ross Ballew, Arvenia Shutt, Jean and Coleman Metzler. He fought the good fight and has finished the race. He kept the faith, now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord will award to him on that day. STOVER, James M., (``Jim""), 85, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday evening, September 27, 1995. He was retired from Stover's Dry Cleaners and Arlene's Uniform and Tuxedo Shop of Roanoke. Mr. Stover was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Arlene; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Jeanette Stover, Clearwater, Fla., Charles Stover, Virginia Beach, David Stover, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Victoria Bernsee, Michele Stover, Michael Stover II, all of Clearwater, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Katherine and Scott Bernsee, both of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Agee, Collinsville, Elizabeth Adkins, Roanoke. TRENT, Floyd Thomas, 77, of 333 Orchard Ave., Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in a Roanoke hospital following a brief illness. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, and was retired from Centel Sprint Telephone Co. after 41 1/2 years service. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Mr. Trent was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Green and Susie Frances Brim Trent, and three brothers, Robert Lee Trent, Wilson Basil Trent, John Allen Trent, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Pittard Trent. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Smith Trent; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Trent and James Riddle, Midlothian; son, Tom Trent, Palm Harbor, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jimmy Riddle, Paige R. Edwards, Chad Trent; one s ister, Ollie Trent Hylton, Martinsville; several nieces and nephews.
