Ridout-Fisher

Rachel Renee' Fisher and Steven Burke Ridout, M.D. were married August 19, 1995 in the home of the groom's parents. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Edward M. Ridout, father of the groom. The wedding dinner was held at the Hotel Roanoke.

The matron of honor was Roberta Fike, sister of the bride. Flowergirl was Meghan Thompson, friend of the couple.

The best man was James Thompson, M.D., friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Chad Fike, nephew of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Christine Fisher of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Hobe Sound Bible College and Fayetteville State University. She is employed by Standard Register.

The groom is the son of Edward and Marla Ridout of Daleville. He is a graduate of William Byrd High School, Randolph-Macon College, and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He is employed as a family medicine resident at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke, after their wedding trip to Maui.

Robinson-Kang

Elizabeth Kang and Michael E. Robinson were married September 30, 1995 in Lapsley Chapel, First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. Phillip West. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The maid of honor was Christie Kang, sister of the bride. The best man was Timothy Robinson, brother of the groom. Ringbearer was Matthew Paul Whitmire, nephew of the bride.|

The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Young S. Kang of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Roanoke College, and is employed by Clarian Hotel as Director of Catering, Columbus, Oh. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Robinson of Newark, Oh, is a graduate of Florida State University. He is employed by Gage Foods as District Sales Manager, Columbus, Oh. The newlyweds will live in Columbus, Oh.|

Shelor-Patterson

Ginger Kay Patterson and Mark Eric Shelor were united in marriage September 16, 1995 at Nicopolis United Methodist Church in Bedford County. The Rev. Patrick J. Simon was the officiating clergy.

The bride is the daughter of Carolyn and Jack E. Patters on, Jr. of Bedford Co.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Anne Shelor and the late Frank Shelor.

Christine Patterson, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Angie Baldwin, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid.

Mike Foster, friend of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Eric Patterson, brother of the bride; Kevin Davis and Sonny Simmons, friends of the groom.

Guestbook attendant was Michelle Caldwell. The wedding was directed by Irma Davis. Pianist was Virginia Nance and soloist was Lisa Butler.

The bride is a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and has a certificate in ``Office Technology'' from CVCC.

The groom graduated from Franklin County High School.

After a honeymoon in Tennessee, the couple will live in Franklin County.

Smither-Flora

Melody Ann Flora and Eric White Smither were married September 30, 1995 at 6:30 p.m. in Garden City Baptist Church, Roanoke. The Reverend Don McCaskill officiated the candle-light ceremony. The pianist was Mrs. Mary Gauld of Roanoke, and wedding music was presented by Mr. Ray Holley of Salem. The reception was held at The Radisson Patrick Henry Hotel Grand Ballroom. Entertainment was provided by Sherman Helms.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The bride is the daughter of Patricia A. and William J. Flora, Jr. of Roanoke, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl G. Hayes, Jr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Flora, Sr. of Roanoke. The bride is a graduate of Northside High School and Ferrum College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

The groom is the son of Nancy S. and Jerry W. Smither of Mechanicsville, and the grandson of Mrs. Lucille W. Stone and the late Mr. John M. Stone, and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Smither of Richmond. He is a graduate of Lee Davis High School and Ferrum College, and is an Environmental Specialist for the Henrico County Health Department.

The bride wore an elegant off-the-shoulder ivory satin gown with a cathedral-length train. The basque bodice was covered with alencon lace, sequins and pearls. Braided pearls adorned the neckline and waist. The finger-tip veil had a back spray of alencon lace and pearls. A bouquet of gardenias, bridal roses, dendrobium orchids and ivy was carried by the bride.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Heather Simmons of Courtland, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Cameron Smither of Mechanicsville, sister of the groom; Miss Lisa Chapin of Christiansburg; Mrs. Rhonda Howell of Daleville; Mrs. Valerie Emerson, Mrs. Rugenia Keefe and Miss Rosemary Shores, all of Roanoke and friends of the bride. The bridesmaids wore black crepe and satin floor-length, off-the-shoulder, fitted gowns and carried hand-tied bouquets of calla lilies.

Mr. Jerry W. Smither served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Keith Smither of Mechanicsville, brother of the groom; Mr. Bryan Roberts of Richmond, cousin of the groom; Mr. Thomas Moomaw of Orkney Springs; Mrs. David Simmons of Courtland; and Mr. Bradley Webb of Fancy Gap; all friends of the groom. Candlelighters and program attendants were Master William Hayes and Master J.W. Howery of Roanoke, cousins of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Miss Kimberly Simmons of Courtland, friend of the bride and groom. Mrs. Esther Howery of Roanoke, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Carol Jarrett of Hollins, close family friend, served as mistress of ceremony. Following a honeymoon to the Grand Cayman Islands, the couple will reside in Mechanicsville.

Taylor-Hoback

Angela Dawn Hoback and Rex Jeffery Taylor were married September 30, 1995 in a candlelight service at Westhampton Christian Church with Rev. Paul D. Matheny officiating. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, was escorted by her father, Gary W. Hoback. The maid of honor was Heather Hoback, sister of the bride, and the matron of honor was Lynette Hill, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Pennie Cash and Jenny Edlin, friends of the bride. The best man was Tim Cox, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Jon Emmett, Cam Spradlin and Mike Crum, friends of the groom. The guest book was attended by Ashley Sadler, cousin of the bride.

The bride wore a white satin mermaid gown. The modified V-neck, elongated torso and long sleeves were heavily embellished with re-embroidered alencon lace covered in clusters of pearls and crystals. The gown featured a detachable cathedral train with lace cut-outs and an all lace hemline. The bridal portraits were taken by Barry Brooks Photography. A reception was held at Hidden Valley Country Club immediately following the ceremony.

Angela is the daughter of Theresa and Gary Hoback. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and East Tennessee State University. Jeff is the son of Charlotte Taylor and the late Rex Franklin Taylor of Greeneville, Tenn. He is a graduate of Greeneville High School and East Tennessee State University. After a honeymoon in Cancun, the couple will reside in Fredericksburg, Va.

Thompson-Strong

Cynthia Marshall Strong and Wayne Douglas Thompson, Jr. were married September 23, 1995 in Second Presbyterian Church. Dr. William Klien was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the Shenandoah Club.

Lisa Strong Chase, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Amy Branham, niece of the bride; Mary Claire Straub, Ann Claire Shepherd, and Stephanie Moss, friends of the bride. Lauren Strong, niece of the bride, was flowergirl.

Wayne Thompson, Sr., father of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were David Hunt, Sr., uncle of the groom; David Hunt, Jr., cousin of the groom; James Witkoswki, friend of the groom; Thomas Strong, III and Robert Strong, brothers of the bride.

The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Strong, Jr. of Roanoke, Va. She is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. and is employed by Ethicon, Inc. as a Sales Representative. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thompson, Sr. of Salem, Va. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he received a MBA. He is employed as Chief Financial Officer at Columbia/HCA.

The newlyweds will live in Selma, Ala., after the wedding trip to California and Hawaii.

VanDalsen-Coleman

Kristina Marie Coleman and Jeffrey Duane VanDalsen were married September 16, 1995 in The Wedding Chapel. Minister C. Sherwood Spence officiated the ceremony. The reception was held at the groom's parents home.

The maid of honor was Julieanna Coleman, sister. The best man was Kyle Grant, friend. Ushers were Mike Caldwell and Tim McFarland, friends. Guestbook attendant was Amy Long.

The bride carried a bouquet of peach roses and carnations. She is a daughter of Mamie Coleman of Roanoke, and is a 1995 graduate of Northside High School. She is employed by Lewis-Gale Clinic. The bridegroom, son of Duane and Linda VanDalsen of Roanoke, is a 1991 graduate of William Fleming High School. He is employed by Lewis-Gale Clinic.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after the wedding trip to Williamsburg

Vogt-Arend

Mary L. Arend and Daniel E. Vogt were married August 12, 1995 in Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. The officiating clergyman was Father Ken Stofft. The reception was held at The Shenandoah Club.

The maid of honor was Robin Arend, sister of the bride. The best man was George L. Vogt, brother of the groom.

The bride is a daughter of James and Frances Arend of Roanoke, Va., and is employed by The United States Attorney's Office. The bridegroom, son of Carroll B. Vogt and the late George F. Vogt of Roanoke, Va., is a self-employed insurance broker.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after the wedding trip to Wally World.

Walker-Fralin

Katherine Louis Fralin and Edward Bizzell Walker were married September 30, 1995 in St. John's Episcopal Church. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell and Dr. William R. Klein.

Karen Kuhlman Brockenbrough, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. John Luther Walker, III, served as his brother's best man.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Carol Thurman Robey and Mr. and Mrs. William Heywood Fralin, all of Roanoke. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received her Masters at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

The groom is the son of Mrs. John Luther Walker, Jr. of Roanoke and the late Mr. Walker. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attends Washington and Lee University Law School.

West-Roberts

Stacy Lynn Roberts and Perry Todd West were united in marriage Saturday, September 9, 1995, in a candle light ceremony in the chapel of First Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Fuller officiated. The reception was at LaMaison.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Roberts of Daleville, Virginia. She was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. Stacy is a graduate of Longwood College.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Ruthie West of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and Mr. Perry West of Steubenville, Ohio. He is a graduate of West Liberty College and employed as a Deputy with Roanoke City Sheriff's Department.

The bride's best friend and mother was her Matron of Honor. The pretty flower girl was Katie Todd of Atlanta, Georgia, cousin of the bride.

Best Man was Stanley Stewart of Moundsville, West Virginia, uncle of the groom. Ushers were Greg Roberts of San Francisco, brother of the bride; Ronnie and David Snyder of Blue Ridge, Virginia, cousins of the groom.

Stacy and Todd thank family and friends who attended their wedding and helped make it a very special day.

After a wedding trip to Nashville, the newlyweds will reside in Roanoke.

Williams-Page

Paula Lynn Page and Andre' Scott Williams were married in a candlelight ceremony on September 16, 1995. The wedding was held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. Dr. J. Eugene Young officiated the ceremony. The lavish reception was held at the Holiday Inn Four Seasons/Koury Center Guilford Ballroom with live entertainment arrangements by saxophone, keyboard and soloists.

The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. Claude Page, Jr. The bride's gown was an extended royal cathedral train accented with lace, silk, pearls, schiffli lace and sequins. The headpiece was accented with sequins, lace and pearls. She carried a bouquet of numerous white roses, japhet orch ids, fressias, stephanotis, miniature carnations, baby's breath, plumose fera and English ivy.

Mrs. Audrey Page, mother of the bride, escorted by her son, served as one of the matrons of honor. Mrs. Adana Preston was the other matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Ms. Janice Williams and Ms. Tiffany Pendergrass, both whom are sisters of the groom. Ms. Tawannah Allen, Mrs. Roxanne Alston, Ms. Tonya Bennett, Ms. Zabrina Dempson, Ms. Grace Dzidzienyo, Ms. Angie Morrison, Ms. Sheron Reynolds, Mrs. Tracy Robinson and Mrs. Tanya Weaver, all whom are close friends or sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

The honorary hostesses, all of whom are close friends or sorors of the bride were Ms. Racheal Hamilton, Ms. Jackie Tillman, Ms. Melissa Lawrence, Ms. Sharon Jackson, Ms. Melanie Brown, Ms. Angela Kessler, Ms. Crystal Little, Ms. Donna Jordan, Ms. Debbie Whitaker, Ms. Valerie Flagg. The flowergirls were Little Miss Ciera Williams, niece of the groom; Little Miss Brittany Harvey, Godchild of the bride; Little Miss India Page, Little Miss Jasmine Page, and Little Miss Kechia Page, nieces of the bride.

Mrs. Jacquelin Williams, mother of the groom, was escorted by her son. The groom's father, Mr. Bill Turner, served as one of the best men. The other best man was Mr. George Williams, III, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. Michael Williams, brother of the groom; Mr. Claude James Page, III, brother of the bride; Mr. Davede Alexander, Mr. Keren Callen, Mr. Dennis Graves, Mr. William Quarterman, Mr. Thomas Williams, Jr., Mr. Nathan Holmes, all of whom are cousins of the groom; Mr. Andre' Allen, Mr. Reginald Sanders-Bruce, friends of the groom. The ushers were Mr. Scott Terry, cousin of the bride; Mr. Randall Calloway, Mr. James Turner, close friends of the bride and groom. The little ringbearer was Godchild of the bride, Master Henry Cooke, III.

The newlyweds will reside in Charlottesville, Virginia following a Caribbean Cruise which will include various places such as Aruba and Venezuela.
