RABIES SHOTS OFFERED AT CLINICS SATURDAY

Rabies clinics for dogs and cats will be held Saturday at 16 veterinary hospitals in and around the Roanoke Valley.

The clinics are being held by the Virginia Department of Health as part of Rabies Awareness Week. Shots will be given at the participating clinics between 1 and 3 p.m. at a special fee of $5 per shot.

Statistics from state health officials indicate the number of rabies cases has increased in the past year.

Animal hospitals participating in the clinics are:

In Roanoke city and county: Animal Medical Associates, Roanoke Animal Hospital, Brandon Animal Hospital, Harris Animal Hospital, Southern Hills Animal Hospital, Valley Animal Hospital and Veterinarians to Cats.

In Vinton: Hardy Road Companion Animal Hospital and Vinton Veterinary Hospital.

In Salem: Salem Animal Hospital.

In Botetourt County: Botetourt Veterinary Hospital, Pet Health Clinic and Old Dominion Veterinary Clinic.

In other nearby areas: Bonsack Veterinary Hospital, Franklin County Animal Hospital and Cooper's Cove Veterinary Clinic.
