MAN FACES MURDER CHARGE IN GIRLFRIEND'S SHOOTING DEATH

A Bedford County grand jury indicted a county man on a murder charge Friday in the shooting death of his girlfriend in June.

Joe Gardner Bolling, 48, will be tried in January for murder and for the use of a firearm in a felony, Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz said.

Bolling and his 27-year-old girlfriend, Torina Lynn Wright, had been arguing at Bolling's house on Virginia 718 shortly before Wright was shot in the back, Bedford County Sheriff Carl Wells said after the June arrest.

Wright died in a rescue helicopter as it prepared to leave for Bedford Memorial Hospital.
