NORTHSIDE TURNS IT ON IN 2ND HALF

Northside overcame a sluggish first half to claim a 60-44 non-district victory over visiting Covington on Monday night behind 12 points and 11 rebounds from Crystal Barrett.

The Vikings (7-6) outscored Covington 33-18 in the second half. Barrett had eight of her points after the break and Erin Weaver had eight of her 10 in the second half. Amy Heath added 12 points and Rosse Hopkins scored 10 for Northside.

The Cougars led 17-7 after the first quarter, but couldn't maintain their offensive intensity. JoAnn Helton led Covington with 19 points and Michelle Jeter had 12.
