ALL, Eva Lee Garman, 94, of Catawba, died Wednesday, October 11, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Wilson All; sons, James and Frank; daughters, Helen Barker, Lucille and Thelma All. Surviving are five sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph All, New Castle; Lawrence All, Maurice All, both of Roanoke; Wayne and Wanda All, Seymour, Tenn.; Reginald and Polly All, Catawba; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lillian and Daniel Allen, Salem; Marjorie and Keith Wright, Blacksburg; Loretta Caldwell, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Clovis and Lucille Garman, Catawba; two daughters-in-law, Ethel All, Lucille All, both of Catawba; 28 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 30 great great-granchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 1995, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with The Rev. R. C. Wagner officiating. Interement will be in the All family cemetery in Catawba. ALTIZER, Hazel A., 76, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, October 11, 1995 in Richfield Nursing Home, Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie S. Altizer. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Billy Lambert; one son and daughter-in-law, Alvie and Pattie Altizer; one grandson, Kevin Altizer, all of Christiansburg; one sister, Mae Altizer, Marion; a special girl, Olivia Bain; and many friends. AREHART, Jason Bradley, 18, of Route 1, Box 142-B, Hiwassee, VA was D.O.A. Wednesday, October 11, 1995 in the Pulaski Community Hospital from injuries received from an automobile accident. He was born in Pulaski VA on May 16, 1977. He was a Private in the United States Marine Corp. having finished his basic training in Parris Island, SC and was to be stationed at the United States Marine Corp. installation in Camp Lejeune, NC. He was a graduate of Pulaski County High School. CECIL, Pearl Hurt, 99, of Daleville, formerly of Roanoke, died Thursday, October 12, 1995. She was a daughter of the late Henry H. and Julia Huff Hurt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Cecil; a son, Guy H. Cecil; brothers and sisters, Dr. Ira Huff Hurt, Addie Young, Mable Hurt, Eldridge Hurt, Mary Harvey and John Henry Hurt. Mrs. Cecil was the last surviving sibling in her family. She was a longtime member of Melrose Baptist Church and persuaded her husband to leave the Methodist Church and join her at her church. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Leonard Johnsonis, DeLand, Fla., Norma Jean Sigmon, Joanna and Alton Dodd, Patricia and Phillip W. Reynolds, Daleville; two special grandchildren, Paul E. Reynolds II, Richmond, Jennifer Smiroldo, Daleville. LUCAS, Minnie Louise, 88, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 11, 1995. She was the widow of Earl Earnest Lucas. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Earnest Franklin. Mrs. Lucas was a house-mother for student nurses at the Carlton Terrace for many years. She was also a sitter at Community Hospital, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Etta Chapter #185, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Surviving are a daughter Louise Lucas McGarrell, Roanoke; son-in-law, Will Franklin, Roanoke; grandchildren and spouses, Carolyn and Thomas Rains, Bonnie and Bill Case, David and Donna Franklin, Michael McGarrell, Kevin Earnest and Chiko McGarrell, Stephen McGarrell; great-grandchildren, Scotty, Melissa, Michael, Christie, and Becky; nephew and wife, Dr. Robert and Martha Perkins. Graveside services will be held in Evergreen Burial Park, 11 a.m. Saturday , with the Rev. Mark Radecke officiating. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church. MITCHELL, John Carroll Sr., 87, of Bedford, died Wednesday, October 11, 1995, in a local rest home. He was born in Bedford County, November 16, 1907, the last surviving of 11 children of the late Willie Edward Mitchell and Lelia Alice Hodges Mitchell. his wife was the late Thelma Elizabeth Krantz Mitchell. He was a retired merchant and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He was a faithful member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #95 AF & AM for over 65 years, where he served in all lodge offices and was coach and teacher to many. He was also a District Deputy for the Grand Lodge. He is survived by his son, the Rev. John Carroll Mitchell Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Bedford; five grandchildren, Karen M. Mitchell, Brian J. Mitchell, Bryan K. Aud, Becky J. Aud and Brandon K. Aud; one great-grandson, Denver Kyle Aud. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 1995, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D. Glen Langston and Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr. officiating. MORGAN, Howard Stevens, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, October 12, 1995 in a local hospital. He was retired from American Bridge and served in the U.S. army during WWII. TAYLOR, P. D., 92, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 1995, in Dr.'s Hospital of Sarasota, Fla. He was born in Pennsboro, W.Va., August 24, 1903, to Lela Wilson and Mark Taylor. He married Thelma Mastin of Bluefield, W.Va. in 1928 and they moved to Roanoke, Va. and then to Salem, Va. After 42 years with the Norfolk & Western Railroad, he retired as Gen. Mgr. of Passenger, Mail & Express Service. In 1987, he moved to Sarasota, Fla. & married Ethel M. Landry. He is survived by Ethel and three children, Patsy T. Simmons, Sarasota, Fla., John M. Taylor, Roanoke, Paul D. Taylor, Salem; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted from Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 1001 Franklin Rd., S.W., at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 1995. TILLING, Melba R., 85, formerly of Whitechapel Road, Norfolk, died Thursday, October 12, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital. She was the owner and operator of Melba's Beauty Shop, which she maintained in her home for over 51 years. She was born in Radford, and was the daughter of the late Sue Webb and Sidney E. Ritter. Mrs. Tilling was the widow of W. T. Tilling. Survivors include two sons, William Thomas Tilling Jr. and his wife Janice, Winchester, Sidney E. Tilling and his wife Joanne, Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Cassandra Carroll and her husband Michael, Tracy Pilgley and her husband Zackary, William T. Tilling III, Thomas H. Tilling and his wife Alison, Theresa Tilling Thompson and her husband Scott, and four great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 1995, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the home of Sidney E.
