REYNOLDS, Harry Brown, 84, of Route 1, Big Island, died Thursday, October 12, 1995 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on June 3, 1911, a son of the late Jessie Brown Reynolds and Gracie Mary Dawson Reynolds. He was the widower of Ruth Irene Wilson Reynolds. He was a retired employee of Bondtex Corporation, a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Eldridge B. Reynolds, Manassas; three stepsons, Calvin J. Martin, Moneta, Marvin E. Martin, Ormond Beach, Fla., and Bobby W. Martin, Blue Ridge; two stepdaughters, Ruth M. Veirs, Rockville, Md., and Shirley M. Burke, Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Edward Reynolds, Forest, Andrew Reynolds, Rustburg, and Lloyd Reynolds, Bunker Hill, W. Va.; a sister, Dean R. Witt, Lynchburg; twenty-one grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 17, 1995, at 11 a.m., at Sedalia Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Michael Jones and the Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.

ALTIZER, Hazel A.,76, of Christiansburg died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1995 in Richfield Nursing Home, Salem. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Mr. A. Lowell Altizer and Rev. Fred Brugger with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.

BONHAM, Jeffrey Scott, 22, of Botetourt County, died at his home Thursday, October 12, 1995, after battling a rare liver cancer, having never complained. He would have been a ``graduate with distinction'' from VMI, having maintained a 3.2 GPA in International Studies, but came up 161/2 hours short of his diploma. Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church. He is now at home with Jesus. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Wendy; and an infant brother, Joey. Jeff is survived by his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Virgil Walker, Botetourt County; father and stepmother, Scott and Lynn Bonha m, Botetourt County; grandmother, Alma Snider (Nannie), Narrows; uncle, Steve Bonham, Roanoke; aunt, Louise Sparks, Narrows; stepbrothers, Brian Trump, Botetourt County, Ian Walker, Kansas City, Missouri; stepsisters, Angela Walker, Fort Lee, Va., Vikki Lager, Paraguay. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, October 16, 1995, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. David Kirk and the Rev. Jim Sutphin officiating. Burial to follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Members of the VMI Corp of Cadets will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 at Oakey's North Chapel and at any time in their respective homes.

CANNADAY, Charlie Elkanah, 87, of Rt. 2 Bassett, Blackberry Community, died Thursday, October 12, 1995 at his home. He was born in Henry County, March 25, 1908 to the late Stephen Harden Cannaday and the late Hattie Sue Stone Cannaday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Emma Thompson Cannaday, who died in 1994. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 19 years service, and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Sue Cannaday , and his son Bunyan A. Cannaday, three sisters, Mae McGuire, Lalah Nolen, and Maude Hollinsworth, five brothers, Roy Lee Cannaday, George Henry, Walter Leonard Cannaday, Steve Allen Cannaday, and John Earl Cannaday. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Inza) Belcher, and Mrs. Jack (Faye) Handy, all of Bassett; five sons, Euell N. Cannaday, Patrick Springs, Charles S. Cannaday, Edward Leon Cannaday, Joel M. Cannaday, and Paul Lee Cannaday, all of Bassett; two sisters, Ruth Thompson, Bassett, and Fern Sink, Ferrum; two brothers, Daniel Albert (Preacher) Cannaday, Joseph Gray Cannaday, both of Bassett; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Funeral will be held Sunday 2 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett, with the Elder Leonard Brammer officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Chapel. Interment will be in the Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery, Bassett.

FOX, Robert Emory Jr., ``Bobby"", 79, of Lexington, died Thursday, October 12, 1995, in The Veterans Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. Born July 12, 1916 in Lexington, Va. he was the son of the late Robert Emory Fox, Sr. and Edith Flint Fox. Bobby was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church, Lexington and he owned and operated a bus service for Burlington Industries employees for over 34 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Statome Fox. Surviving are one daughter, Rayma F. Lacks, Falls Church, Va.; three sons, Ray D. Fox, Jacksonville, Fla., Billy Fox, Culpeper, Va., Bobby Fox, Johnson City, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 15, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the graveside at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ze b Carson Williams officiating. GRAHAM, Harold William (Bill) 67, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 13, 1995. He was a Chief Warrant Officer (CW3), USA Retired. He was employed for 15 years as a Claims Adjuster with State Farm Insurance. He was an avid traveller and golfer and member of the Botetourt Country Club. Mr. Graham was a member of the Grasshoppers Golfing Association, and received the exceptional service award as a volunteer for the Red Cross. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn Stevens Graham; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Theresa Graham, Richmond; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Lance Embrey, Lebanon Church, Va.; four grandchildren, Christopher, Ross, Catherine and Julia, all of Richmond; brother, Richard Crocker, Tolland, Conn. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 9 E. Church Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24011. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel, by the Rev. Charles Doyle and the Rev. Mark Washington. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Troutville Cemetery. HALE, Charlotte Rakes,88, of Amherest died Thursday, Oct. 12, 1995 at Briarwood Nursing Center. Mrs. Hale was the wife of the late Walter Rudy Hale. She was born is Grayson Co. Va. on February 14, 1907. She was the daughter of the late William Robert Rakes and the late Susan Caroline Akers Rakes. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Fieldale Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. She was a member of the Rangley Ruritan Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Richard(Jackie) Prillaman of Amherst, Va., Mrs. Margaret Sheppard of Martinsville, Va. and Mrs. Clara M Nymeyer of Martinsville, Va.; two sons William Ray Hale of Richmond Va. and James Walter Hale of Roanoke , Va.; Brother, Robert E. Rakes of Clearwater, Fl. and Nine Grandchildren and eleven Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 2 P.M. at McKee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William L. Jones and Rev. HODGES, Lizzie Beth, 96, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, October 12, 1995, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. Hodges, a son, Hubert A. Hodges, and a daughter, Cordie Lee Smith. Surviving are her children, Ada H. Greer, Roy T. Hodges, Buford Hodges, Gladys Hodges, Marvin Hodges, all of Rocky Mount, Billy Hodges, Danville; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Horsley, Dry Fork; several nieces and nephew. MILAM, Tiny B., 73, of Smith Mountain Lake, formerly of Arlington, Va., died Thursday, October 12, 1995. He was born February 16, 1922 in Charlotte Courthouse, Va. and raised in Roxboro, N.C. He was a retired electrician, I. B. E. W. #26 , Washington, D.C. He was a member of Centennial Lodge, Arlington, Va., and the Kazim Temple, Roanoke. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Hattie Woody Milam; son, Bruce Milam, Richmond; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Hard, Vinton; grandsons, Tommy Hard and wife, Michelle, and Gavin Hard; sister, Betty Blue Averette; brothers, Clifton Milam, Joseph Milam, and Calvin Milam; one stepgreat-granddaughter; loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends also survive. MOON, Callie Mae Sifford, 73, of Blacksburg, departed this life to be with the Lord Thursday evening, October 12, 1995. Mrs. Moon was born in Pulaski County, Virginia and lived most of her life in Montgomery County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy O. Moon, surviving are one son, Roy Franklin Moon, Texas; one daughter, Marie Moon Painter, Blacksburg; one granddaughter, Calyn Elizabeth Moon Painter; also three sisters, Beulah Wolliver, Blacksburg, Edith Shelton, Fla., Betty Jo Davis, Atlanta, Ga; numerous nieces and nephews. REID, Alberta Elizabeth Reyno lds, 65, of Roanoke, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 11, 1995. She was born in Roanoke, the daughter of the late Elder John Mercer Reynolds, Sr. and the late Sally Arrington Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Reid, and twins, Moroline and George Reynolds, brother, Richard Reynolds, and sister, Sally Mae Reynolds Stuart. ``Aunt Bert'', as she was called by many family members, along with their aunt, Mrs. Ruth Hylton, assumed the responsibility of ``Mother'' to her young brothers and sisters, after the untimely death of their mother, that left them motherless, some at a young tender age. She was always held in highest esteem by her father, sisters and brothers for her love, guidance and sacrifices she made for them even until her death. Survivors include her children, Moroline Reynolds (Norman) Smith, Southfield, Mi., Roland (Marilyn) Reynolds, Sr. and Nancy Reynolds Harper, Roanoke; brothers and sisters, John (Shirley) Reynolds, Jr., Henry (Anne) Reynolds, Lewis Reynolds, Pauline (Lewey) Hale, Marion (Leffy) Gray, Frank Reynolds, Warren Reynolds, Harold Reynolds, Donald (Dedra) Reynolds, Ann Reynolds Jefferson and Barbara Jean Reynolds Gaino, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Sandra Merlene Hansel, Oak Park, Mi., Catina M. STANLEY, Gladys Christine, 71, of Hollins, died Thursday, October 12, 1995. She was a member of the Coling Baptist Church, and is survived by her husband, Grover W. Stanley; one son, Melvin W. Stanley, Sr., both of Hollins; one sister, Louise Mullins, Roanoke; two half-sisters, Viola of Moneta, Irva of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. STONE, Lewis Harmon, Jr., 77, of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, October 13, 1995 of a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Harmon Stone Sr. and Ellie Thomas Stone, and a brother, Jack T. Stone. He is retired from the U. S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Helen S. Stone, Ormond Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Kerrie S. Treat, Gaithersburg, MD.; three sons, Robin L. Stone, Sarasota, Fla., Daniel H. Stone, Melbourne, Fla. and Richard T. Stone, Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Stone Broughman; one brother, Robert L. Stone, both of Roanoke. WILSON, Walter Glen, 89, of Galax, died Friday, October 13, 1995, in Waddell Nursing Home. He was born in Grayson County on August 31, 1906, to the late John Ellis Wilson and Nora Fortner Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Eula Melton Wilson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Willard Burnett, Galax, Wilda and Roswell Wilson, Columbia , S.C., Barbara and John McMasters, Fries; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ohlen and Martha Wilson, Roger and Loretta Wilson, all of Galax; a sister, Sena Winesett, Galax; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Snow Hill Baptist Church, where Mr. Wilson was a member. Rev. Eddie Beck and Rev. Ted Bartlett will officiate. Interment will follow in the Meadow Creek Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
