The game was a tale of two halves as the Minutemen (6-1, 6-1) dominated the first half on both sides of the ball. Liberty totalled 13 first downs and 225 yards in the first half and yielded only one first down and 21 total yards in building a 19-0 lead.
Their fortunes changed drastically in the second half as the Cavaliers (5-2, 5-2) had 11 first downs to Liberty's six and over 200 yards of offense to Liberty's 143.
The Cavaliers scored three straight touchdowns to take a 20-19 lead, the final touchdown coming at the end of a five minute drive culminating in a one yard run by Jamie Forrest.
Liberty got the ball back with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter and marched down the field on four passes by quarterback J.J. Coles, ending on a 32-yard touchdown pass to Robert Carson.
Jefferson Forest had one last chance on a deep ball that went through the hands of the wide open Forrest, inside the 10-yard line. The next pass was intercepted to end the threat.
