ED COLONNA has been promoted to project manager at Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern Inc., a Roanoke-based architectural, engineering and planning firm. Colonna, who joined the firm in 1978, is a senior associate specializing in electrical engineering.

EDIE T. SAUNDERS, previously with Salem Bank and Trust, has become a loan officer at the Salem office of Premier Bank Inc. She formerly held positions as an administrative assistant/officer, customer service representative, teller supervisor and branch officer.

WILLIAM P. SCHUB-MEHL, president and chief executive officer of Scott & Stringfellow Financial Inc., on Jan. 1 will become vice chairman of its brokerage subsidiary, Scott & Stringfellow Inc. JOHN SHERMAN JR. will succeed Schubmehl as the company's president and chief executive officer. Scott & Stringfellow Inc. has offices in Roanoke and other locations in Southwest Virginia.

DONALD W. DUNCAN of Troutville, director of the Virginia Department of Veterans' Affairs, has been elected vice president of the South East District of the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, Panama Canal, Virgin Islands and Virginia.

NANCY FULLER REYNOLDS has joined the law firm of Wetherington, Melchionna, Terry, Day & Ammar as an associate. She previously was a law clerk for Judge Samuel G. Wilson of U.S. District Court for Western Virginia. Reynolds will practice in the areas commercial law, employment and business litigation.
PHILLIP V. ANDERSON, a partner in the Roanoke firm of Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, has been re-elected chairman of the Virginia State Bar's 8th District Disciplinary Committee and appointed to the faculty of the bar's mandatory professionalism course.
T. DANIEL FRITH III, a partner with the firm of Mundy, Rogers & Frith in Roanoke, has been elected chairman of the Virginia State Bar's litigation section board of governors.
