MOTORCYCLE CRASH KILLS N.C. MAN

Thomas Galen Hanes, 34, died Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle on Virginia 640 west of Virginia 602 in Franklin County.

The Greensboro, N.C., man crashed after he applied the motorcycle's brakes, slid from the roadway and struck a tree, according to state police.

The accident occurred about 3:20 p.m., and Hanes died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.
