ADKINS, Zula McAlexander, 71, of Shawsville, formerly of Collinsville, died Sunday, October 15, 1995. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, Collins Funeral Services Chapel, Bassett.

BOWYER, Barbara Greig, 65, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 15, 1995, following a lengthy illness. For the past two months, she had made her home with her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Bowyer was an accomplished organist and began her career in music when she was 17 years old. Mrs. Bowyer served various churches in the Roanoke Valley and retired after 41 years of service with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. ``Rick"" and Teresa H. Bowyer, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Maryann B. and Monty H. Powers, Marietta , Ga.; three grandsons, Matthew and Michael Powers, Zachary Bowyer; brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. and Sandra D. Greig, Roanoke; sister, Miriam G. Jobe, Rock Hill, S.C.; aunt, Ellen Bloodsworth, Salisbury, Md.; nieces, Pamela G. Myers, Roanoke, Tracy L. White and husband, Steven, Rock Hill, S.C.; and a special friend, Jacoby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Valley View Wesleyan Church or the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy J. Garner. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. BROWN, Maggie Ola Rorrer, 95, of Dublin, passed away Saturday, October 14, 1995. Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

CARROLL, Mildred H., 79, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 14, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson O. Carroll, and a sister, Elizabeth H. Bowling. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (``Maggie"") and Gary Drewry, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Walter B. and Mary Grace Houchins Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio; seven nieces; five nephews, and several cousins. CAVELL, Ralph Hedges, 70, of Christiansburg, died Saturday night, October 14, 1995, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen B. Cavell; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margaret Cavell, Blacksburg; two sisters, Elsie Mitchell, Dorothy Shaff, both of Frederick, Md.; and two grandchildren. The body will be taken to the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home in Frederick, Md. Monday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home. The funeral and burial will be in Frederick, Md.

COOK, Pearl Elizabeth, 53, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 13, 1995. Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Faye) Cook Brown, John Cook, Benny Cook Jr.; two daughters, Linda Cook Miles and Kimberly Cook; mother-in-law, Marie Davis all of Roanoke; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James Brown, Wyco, W.Va., Bill (Rosa) Brown, Bud, W.Va.; four sisters, Annette Brown, Beckley, W.Va., Eula Mae Washington, Washington D.C., Alma Fralin, Greensboro, N.C., Ozelia Harris, Glenwhite, W.Va.; and a loving and devoted friend, George Brown; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. LaPRADE, Clarence V., 73, of 22918 River Road, Petersburg, died Saturday, October 14, 1995, at Southside Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Mr. LaPrade was a retired employee of Allied Signal Corporation of Hopewell, Va. He was a native of Franklin Co., Boones Mill, Va. and the son of the late William Curtis and Annie Wray LaPrade. He was a faithful and active member of Matoaca Baptist Church. Mr. LaPrade is survived by his wife, Hazel Turner LaPrade; two sons, Kenneth V. LaPrade and his friend, Mary Ashley, and Robert C. LaPrade and his wife, Sharon P. LaPrade; two daughters, Donna Sue Hudso n and Sandra Nesbitt and her husband, Anthony Nesbitt; eight grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and three great-grandchildren; many relatives and wonderful friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road, Matoaca, Va. with the Rev. Dr. James N. Birkitt and Pastor Emeritus R. Roland Powell officiating. MILLER, Reba Agnes, 48, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, October 15, 1995. She is survived by her mother, Pauline Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Martha Miller, Salem, William and Jean Miller, Rocky Mount, Ralph Miller, Roanoke, Raymond Miller, Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Carlos Matherly, Roanoke, and a very special friend, Richard Gilmore. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 1995, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Atkin and Dr. William R. MONTGOMERY, Paxton T., Sr., 88, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, October 14, 1995, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Kelsey Montgomery; two sons, David Rae Montgomery and Harry Kelsey Montgomery, and a grandson, Tommy Britt. ``Pac"" was the son of Samuel Paxton and Sallie Karnes Montgomery. Surviving are two sons, Paxton (Gwen) Montgomery Jr., Eagle Rock, and Charles Montgomery, Buchanan; six daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Mary) Bryant, Lynchburg, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) May and Mrs. Roddy (Doris) Doss, Orlando, Fla., Mrs. James (Margaret) Nathe, Waynesboro , Mrs. Walter (Grace) Alexander, Buchanan, and Mrs. Donald (Sara) Britt, Eagle Rock; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and a brother, S. P. Montgomery, Lynchburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 1995, at Buchanan Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating, assisted by a grandson, the Rev. RICHARDSON, Carlton C., 87, of Roanoke, and formerly of Franklin County, died at his home on Sunday, October 15, 1995. He was a deacon at Coopers Cove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Frances K. Richardson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and Laverne Richardson, Coopers Cove, Jack and Shirley Richardson, Bedford; five daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis R. Echols, Christiansburg, Lelia and Bob Jones, Roanoke, Sandra and Saford Lawson, Christiansburg, Judy and Andy Thornton, Roanoke, Vickie and Garry Klaiber, Roanoke; a sister, Essie Richardson, Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two nephews. ROYALL, Rumel Collins, 61, of Montvale, died Saturday, October 14, 1995, in a local hospital. She was a member of Montvale Baptist Church, and a daughter of the late George and Mary Collins, formerly of Seagrove, N.C. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Amos (``Red') Royall Jr.; a son, Roger A. Royal, Vinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Bill Land, Roanoke, Catherine and Ron Settle, Tracy and Jackie Waller, Thaxton; six grandchildren, Brandy and Hillary Land, Michelle and Bo Royal, Derek Binns and Samantha Settle; four sisters, Jenny Jordan, Sadie Little, Anna Mae Cheek and Lonell Garner; two brothers, Thomas Collins and Harvey Collins, and many loving relatives and friends. SANDERS, John David, 70, of Route 7, Rocky Mount, died Saturday, October 14, 1995, in Franklin Memorial Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Susie B. Sanders, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward and Mary E. Sanders, Ronnie Eugene and Susan Ann Sanders, Joe D. and Teresa Sanders, Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Combs, Birtie Cumbee, Noma Merrix, Giles County; five brothers, Woody Lee Sanders, Daniel Sanders, Samuel Sanders, Silas Sanders, Oakley (``Buddy"") Sanders, Giles County, and many nieces and nephews. TRINKLE, James Lewis, 66, of Roanoke, died Friday evening, October 13, 1995, while attending his 45th reunion at Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville. He had been President of C. W. Francis and Son, Inc. since 1966. He was born April 2, 1929, to the late Governor of Virginia, E. Lee Trinkle and Helen Ball Sexton Trinkle. He was graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946, Hampden-Sydney College in 1950 and the University of Virginia Law School in 1953. Mr. Trinkle was an Eagle Scout and President of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Virginia. He was very active in civic, community and church affairs, including member and President of Downtown Roanoke Inc., and fund-raising campaign director, Chairman and Preside nt of United Way of Roanoke Valley. He was a member of the Boards of Directors of the Roanoke Symphony, Roanoke Valley Board of Realtors, Central YMCA, Roanoke Civic Center Project, Junior League Advisory Board, American Cancer Society, Roanoke Historical Society and Colonial American National Bank (Crestar Bank). He was Chairman of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan (Charter Federal), President of the Merchants Association of the Roanoke Valley and President of the Roanoke Fine Arts Center (Art Museum of Western Virginia). Two things which were of special importance to him were Hampden-Sydney College, where he served on the Board of Trustees from 1967 to the present, and the University of Virginia, where he twice was appointed to the Board of Visitors (1982-1990). He took special pride in receiving the Ernest H. Ern Award at UVA in 1989 for his work toward advancing the initiatives, programs and goals of the Student Council to provide more effective teaching by increasing student-professor contact. Surviving are his wife, Muriel King Trinkle; sons, James L. Trinkle Jr., William F. Trinkle, David B. Trinkle M.D. and his wife, Ann Bondurant Trinkle; stepson, Henry Scholz IV; stepdaughters and their husbands, Courtney and Robert Black, Lisa and Steve Wall, Ardis and Mark Merritt; grandchildren, Catie, Clay and Ella Trinkle; stepgrandchildren, Laura and Kehler Black, Mark and Catherine Merritt; brothers and sister-in-law, E. Lee Trinkle Jr., William S. and Virginia Trinkle; sister and brother-in-law, Helen Sue and William Stroud. Also surviving are his former wife, Betty Francis Trinkle Freeman, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Second Presbyterian Church at 12:30 p.m. Monday, October 16, 1995, with the Rev. Dr. William R. Klein officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Downtown Chapel. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Trinkle Professorship at Hampden-Sydney College or to the Alumni Association at the University of Virginia.
