ALLISON, Gordon R. Sr., 84, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Roanoke, died Monday, October 16, 1995 in a Bay Pines, Florida Hospital. He was a Naval veteran of World War II and attended Greene Memorial United Methodist Church while living in Roanoke. Surviving are his wife, Martha P. Allison; and a son, Gordon R. Allison Jr., of North Myrtle Beach, S. C. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 1995 at Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. Robert L. Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.

BAILEY, Mildred Branson, 68, of Bristol, Va., peacefully entered into death Sunday, October 15, 1995, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Despite impending death, she maintained her poise, strength, and dignity to the end. Survivors include her husband, Harry H. Bailey, Bristol, Va.; daughter, Bobbie Jean Harmon, Abingdon, Va.; son, Gary R. Bailey, Roanoke; sister, Carolyn Cook, Kingsport, Tenn.; brother, Ralph Branson, Bristol, Va.; daughter-in-law, Polly Bailey; five grandchildren, Stephanie Bailey, Joshua Bailey, Tamara Harmon, Lindsey Harmon, Michael Harmon. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by a son, Michael Bailey. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge. Funeral services for Mildred Branson Bailey will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John A. Thrasher and Rev. Charlie J. Monk Jr. officiating. BOGESE, Catherine Lemon, (``Kitty""), of the Roanoke United Methodist Home, passed away Monday afternoon, October 16, 1995, after an extended illness. She was the widow of Stephen B. Bogese, and a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen II and Sharon Bogese, Roanoke, Charles and Betsy Bogese, Salisbury, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jeffrey Russo of Edison, N. J.; four grandchildren, Erica and Paul Bogese, Allison and Catherine Bogese; three brothers, Robert Lemon, Curtis Lemon and Charles Lemon. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. Walter M. Lockett Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. CARR, Joyce Marie Fink, 58, of Roanoke, died Sunday evening, October 15, 1995 at her sister's home. She was the widow of Glenn L. Carr. She was an employee of Tultex for 40 years, and she attended First Church of God in Roanoke. Surviving are her son, Keith E. Carr, Roanoke; sister, Jerri Hartman, Roanoke; three brothers, Cletus Fink, Princeton, W. Va.; Arlie Fink, Roanoke, Acie E. Fink, Jr., Virginia Beach. She will also be lovingly missed by many nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services will be held at First Church of God (Hildebrand) 7 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Jim Milner officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are by Oakey's South Chapel.
CARTER, Betty Louise Malee, 57, of 4515 Mendenhall, Dallas, Texas, died Friday, October 13, 1995 in Medical City Hospital, Dallas. Born March 2, 1938, in Butte, Montana, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Frances H. Malee and Elizabeth T. Malee Hayes of Louisville, Ky. She was a professional model and dancer, operated a ballet school in Fort Knox, Ky. for 10 years, and most recently served as secretary and assistant to her husband in the securities business. She was a graduate of University of Louisville; was a member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church; an active member of Good Shepherd Episcopal School Parents Organization; the Jesuit Colle ge Preparatory School Parents Board serving as secretary of the Auction Committee. Also surviving are her husband of 36 years, Gary L. Carter; son, Gary Lee Carter II of Dallas; daughter, Tracy Lynn Carter Wise of San Diego, Calif; grandson, Walter Wescott Wise III; and a sister, Sharon Knaup of Sarasota, Fla. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Meredith officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel, Bassett.
CLAYTON, Stephen John, 51, of Troutville, died Sunday, October 15, 1995. He was vice president and marketing manager at J. W. Burress Inc. He is survived by his wife, Erin K. Clayton; sons, Stephen C. Clayton, Jamie T. and wife, Cindy Clayton; daughter, Megan C. Clayton; mother, Dorothy A. Clayton; brothers, William H. Clayton and Howard C. Clayton. Lee, Salem, Rosa Elmore, North Carolina, Susie Smith, Salem, Mary West, Christiansburg; two brothers, Joseph Cunningham, Riner, James Cunningham, Christiansburg. DAVIS, Willie Lee, 85, of Roanoke, died Monday, October 16, 1995, at his home. He went to be with the Lord and be reunited with Zell. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Holbrook Davis; three sons, Peyton F. Davis, Roger L. Davis Jr., and Gray W. Davis, of Roanoke; one daughter, Doris Kanode, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. EDDY, Mildred Grace Edwards, age 76 of Bedford died Sunday, October 15, 1995 in a Roanoke Hospital. She was born May 30, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late Herbert Edwards and Dorothy Davies Edwards. She was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church, the widow of George Marshall Eddy and a former resident of New Jersey. She is survived by her son, Calvin J. Eddy, Bedford; her daughters, Phyllis H. Dooley, Winder, Ga., and Audrey G. Gawlik, Merceed, Calif.; her sister, Jessie Slomimski, New Carrollton, Md.; also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 1995 at Bedford Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joseph S. Gaston and the Rev. Francis B. Avery, Jr. officiating. KING, Georgia Sullivan Campbell, 72, of Ivanhoe, died Monday, October 16, 1995 in the Blue Ridge Highlands Health Care Center in Galax. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Savanah and Jane Combs Campbell. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Donald Ayers of Ivanhoe, Dawn and Stephen Pearman of Austinville, Vickie and Jerry Akers Sr. of Ivanhoe, Tona and Kenny Harmon of Rt. 3 Wytheville, Dixie and Darrell Smith of Pilot; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Wayne (Wanda) Brown, Mrs. Kenneth (Starleigh) Sink, Mrs. Robert (Berlene) Shook all of Wytheville; three sisters, Mrs. Garlan d (Magdalene) Dalton of Ashtabula, Ohio, Mrs. Beatrice Dalton of Ivanhoe, Mrs. Wanda Jackson of Max Meadows; one brother, Swanson Campbell of Rt. 2 Austinville; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren also survive. NEIGHBORS, Dexter Jacob Sr., 70, of Roanoke County, passed away Monday, October 16, 1995. Mr. Neighbors was a charter member of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and was retired from the General Electric Company. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Malcolm Neighbors and is survived by his wife, Dorothy Spraker Neighbors; his sons and daughters-in-law, J. D. II and Bonnie Neighbors, Salem, Freddie (Mack) and Marcia Neighbors, Fincastle; his daughter, Linda Woods and a special friend, Paul both of Roanoke; a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Joe Webb, Roanoke County; seven grandchildren, Jay, Lori, Jason, Sarah, Chad, Christine and Ginni Ellen; a special friend, Christy Bertron, Richmond. RAKES, Hugh Namon, 96, of Shawsville, formerly of Floyd, died Monday, October 16, 1995 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Rakes was born August 4, 1899 and was the last surviving child of the late Samuel P. and Minerva Rakes, and was the a native of Floyd County. Mr. Rakes was in the dairy farm and timber business. He is survived by a daughter, Shirley R. Ussery, Savannah, Ga.; two granddaughters, Linda Raciappa, Bushnell, Fla., Nancy Glazer, Windermere, Fla.; a grandson, William L. Ussery III, Ponte Vedre Beach, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to the Floyd County Rescue Squad, Floyd, Virginia 24091. Burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.
