COLLIER, Susan Conley 48, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Tuesday, October 17, 1995 at her residence. She was born on February 11, 1947, in Jackson, Ohio. Mrs. Collier was a member of First Christian Church of Russell and was also a Hair Stylist for House of Glamour, Donna's Beauty Salon and Talk Of The Town with 23 years of service. She is survived by her parents, Woodrow and Mary Phipps Conley, Russell, KY; and her spouse, William T. Collier, Ashland, KY; one step son, Steven Collier, Ashland, KY; one step daughter, Anita Gail Collier, Riddle of Tueson, AZ.; brothers, Wayne Conley, Crawfordsville, IN, Bob Conley, Russell, KY.; sisters, Sharlene Conley Howell, Worthington, KY.; Libby Conley Collins, Roanoke, three nieces and seven nephews; special friend, Helen Hall; and four grandchildren. CRAGHEAD, Mary Rucker, 68, of Rt. 4, Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, October 16, 1995, at 7:30 a.m. in the Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Henry Edward Craghead. Born in Bedford County on June 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Lynwood and Catherine Rucker. She was a member of the Promiseland Baptist Church. She had been employed by Halmode Apparel before her health failed. She was preceded in death by one son, James C. Craghead; three brothers, Edward, Oscar, and John Rucker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Craghead, William and Marion Craghead, Gary Wayne and Annabelle Craghead, Gerald and Barbara Craghead, Mike and Darlene Craghead, Donald Craghead, all of Bedford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Florine C. Robertson, Mae C. and Osborne Watson, Barbara C. and John Hall, all of Bedford; two brothers, John Rucker, Florida, Albert Rucker, New York; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends; a very devoted friend, Christine Cunningham. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 21, 1995 at 2 p.m., the Promiseland Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Penn officiating. Burial will follow in Hurts Gate Cemetery. DENT, Fred Jackson, 97, of 121 Eleventh St., N.W., Pulaski, died Wednesday morning, October 18, 1995, at his home. He was born in Wythe Co. on October 23, 1897, and he was the son of the late Charles Lee Dent and Bettie Jackson Dent. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, a veteran of World War I, a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, and he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Landis Dent. Surviving are one brother, Joe B. Dent, Petersburg; several nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. from Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski, with the Rev. Norman Wilhoit and the Rev. LYNCH, Wilmer W., 72, of Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, October 18, 1995. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Okinawa and Korea. Mr. Lynch was a member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren and was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Bailey Lynch. He was retired from Goad Lumber Company, Hughesville, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Lavonia Moles. ORVILLE, Lillian Duvall, 90, of Westminster-Canterbury, Lynchburg, Va., died Tuesday, October 10, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Howard Thomas Orville United States Navy Retired. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard Thomas Orville Jr. and Mary Orville, Roanoke, Dr. Harold Duvall Orville and Laura Orville, Rapid City, S.D., Dr. Richard Edmonds Orville and Barbara Orville, College Station, Texas; also 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. OWENS, James Ryan (``Jamie""), 16, of Marion, died Tuesday, October 17, 1995 in Smyth County Community Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. Jamie was a member of the Junior Class and the Varsity Basketball Team at Marion Senior High School. He was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Owens. THOMAS, Alfred Elmer, 66, of Roanoke, formerly of Glen Lyn, died Wednesday, October 18, 1995, in the V.A. Hospital in Salem. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born at Glen Lyn on August 9, 1929, and was a son of the late Arthur Harrison and Callie Reeves Thomas. He was a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S.Air Force, having served for 20 years before his retirement in the armed forces. He is survived by a brother, Arthur H. Thomas, Roanoke, and a sister, Helen Williams, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, with Minister Tony Reed and the Rev. Don Stansell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, with graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Posts and VFW Post of Giles County. The family will gather with their friends at Riffe's in Narrows from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
THOMPSON, Frances Eglantine Goodman, 83, of Lexington, died Tuesday, October 17, 1995, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born on December 28, 1911, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Charles Richard Goodman and Lula Lackey Goodman. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Fairfield High School, and attended Blackstone Girls College and Mary Baldwin College. She was a member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Thompson was married on June 6, 1936, to Lewis Chapman Thompson. In addition to her husband, survivors include three nephews, Charles E. Thompson, Lexington, H. Davenport (``Dee"") Thompson, Staunton, and Dr. William R. Goodman, Lynchburg, and two nieces, Mrs. Mildred Ann Montgomery, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Eugenia Goodman Campbell, Indiana. Mrs. Thomp son was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 1995, at the graveside in Timber Ridge ARP Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel H. Malcolm officiating. VAUGHT, Joseph Percy, 82, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, October 17, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born in Montgomery County on May 13, 1913, he was the son of the late Fletcher Hayden and Drucy Broce Vaught. He was a retired Coal Miner of the Superior Anthracite Coal Company (Big Vien).
