AUTEN HAS LEAD SLICED IN BASSMASTER

The James River loved Mike Auten on Wednesday. On Thursday, it didn't.

Auten, who held a commanding lead of nearly 10 pounds in the BassMaster Virginia Top 100 fishing tournament after the first day, saw his advantage sliced to 2 pounds, 1 ounce on Thursday.

Guido Hibdon of Gravois Mills, Mo., landed a limit of five bass weighing 11 pounds, 4 ounces to bring his two-day total to 25 pounds, 1 ounce.

Auten, of Benton, Ky., caught only two fish weighing 3 pounds, 7 ounces. But he still leads thanks to a hefty first-day catch.

David Dudley of Lynchburg remained in striking distance, catching another limit, which pushed his two-day total to 20 pounds 10 ounces. He is in seventh place.

Woo Daves of Spring Grove caught three fish after limiting out on Wednesday and is in 25th place with 15 pounds, 1 ounce.

Weigh-ins will be held today and Saturday at 3 p.m. at Osborne Boat Landing in Henrico County.
