I-81 CRASH KILLS DANVILLE MAN

Robert Lee Matheson, 20, died at the scene shortly after 5 p.m., according to state Trooper G.K. Harth.

Keith Wallace, 23, of Roanoke was traveling north on I-81 near the Ironto rest area when he lost control of his car, police said.

He veered across the median and struck Matheson's vehicle, which was traveling south, Harth said.

Wallace was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and released, a nursing supervisor said.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation is continuing, Harth said.
