But not when the color is the postal service's muted red, white and blue trailer in the heart of town.
No more in Newport, federal officials in Greensboro, N.C., confirmed Friday.
A new post office will be built at U.S. 460 and Virginia 42, a half-mile west of the village, said Lewis Nash, a real estate specialist with the U.S. Postal Service Facility in Greensboro.
Construction of the frame and brick building should be completed in June, Nash said.
The land is a portion of the property occupied by the Super Saver Grocery, owned by Marvin "Buddy" Hudson, and an adjacent portion owned by Scott and Carol Geller.
Newport is the only Giles county community without a new or remodeled post office, said David Godfrey, postmaster.
The trailer has been Newport's sole post office for 15 years, Godfrey said.
Plans for the new building should receive final approval at the end of October. The one-story post office will have 2,500 square feet.
David Rice, a Michigan builder of post offices, is the contractor, Nash said.
The Newport building will be erected by subcontractors.
