DUBLIN - As part of its Virginia Works work force services initiative, the Virginia Community College System has awarded a $10,000 grant to the New River Community College.
The college plans to use the money for its "Leveraging the Power of People and Technology to Enhance Economic Development" project. The goal is to develop high-technology classrooms to be used in occupational-technical programs. These adaptations will give students access to the Internet and CD-ROM, provide regional business and industry access to the college's video conference and information databases, and demonstrate training capabilities to prospective businesses.
