Dr. Jerry Punch, the trauma specialist who is a telecast analyst and reporter for two sports on two networks, will be the guest speaker at the next Roanoke Valley Sports Club meeting.
Punch, who works NASCAR events and college football for ABC and ESPN, will speak at the sports club's Nov.6 meeting at the Roanoke Civic Center. Dinner begins at 6:15 p.m. after a half-hour social.
The sports club is offering club membership and dinner for this meeting for $25. The annual fee usually is $25, with an additional $10 for each dinner. Guests may attend for $25.
Punch, a former backup quarterback at North Carolina State, lives in Boone, N.C., and Bunnell, Fla., where he is director of emergency medicine at Memorial Hospital-Flagler. He works for the networks primarily as a pit reporter on racing and sideline reporter on college football, although he called play-by-play for the first two Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowls in Salem.
