NATIONAL INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORKS, a program that enables church members to care for homeless people temporarily through providing meals and overnight lodging, will be the focus of a meeting Nov. 2 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1101 Franklin Road S.W. Karen Olson, president of the agency, will describe the work at 7:30 p.m.
CHURCH WOMEN UNITED, an ecumenical and multiracial organization to promote Christian service, will hold World Community Day on Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 5056 Pleasant Hill Drive S.W. "Preserving the Fruits of God's Labor" will be the theme. Call 389-1883 by Monday to reserve the $3.50 lunch. Janice Hale, a member of Loudon Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) , is the nominee for president of CWU in 1996-97.
ALL SOUL'S DAY on Nov. 2 will be observed by Roanoke Valley Roman Catholics with a Mass and dedication of a new mausoleum and columbarium in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Bishop Walter F. Sullivan of Richmond will officiate at a 12:30 p.m. service in the cemetery at 3601 Salem Turnpike N.W. Rain site will be St. Andrew's Church, 631 N. Jefferson St.
BISHOP WILLIAM DeJARNETTE RUTHERFOORD,76, has retired from administrative duties as leader of the Mid-Atlantic Diocese of the Anglican-Catholic Church. His successor is Bishop John Cahoon of Gettysburg, Pa. Rutherfoord, who lives in Fincastle, continues as rector of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Roanoke. He held the position of bishop for 15 years after resigning as an Episcopal priest in a division over the ordination of women and prayer-book revision.
AT HOLLINS COLLEGE, the Rev. Joseph A. Keaton, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Roanoke, will lead services on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in duPont Chapel. The Chapel Choir will provide music.
HOMECOMING is scheduled Sunday at Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 506 15th St. N.W., with a service at 3 p.m. The Rev. Johnny Stone and the choir of Hill Street Baptist Church will lead the worship. The day will include lunch served between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
DAVID WOLFE, the first full-time director of pastoral care on the Lewis-Gale Hospital staff, will leave the position Nov. 30. The chaplain has been at the hospital for seven years and also served as president of the Roanoke Valley Ministers Conference in 1993. His wife, Linda Kusse-Wolfe, has been a Christian educator at Cave Spring United Methodist and Williamson Road Church of the Brethren congregations. The Wolfes are moving to North Manchester, Ind., where David Wolfe will join the staff of a Church of the Brethren as its pastoral care minister and will work with a church retirement home nearby.
A FAREWELL RECEPTION is scheduled Friday at 8 p.m. at Temple Emanuel for Rabbi Frank Muller who is leaving Roanoke for a congregation in Youngstown, Ohio. Muller, 40, came to the Reform Jewish congregation 10 years ago. The Chailites will provide special music for the social, and a nursery will be staffed for the event at 1163 Persinger Road S.W.
A GOSPEL MUSIC PROGRAM featuring the Savannah Community Choir of Savannah, Ga., will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at William Fleming High School auditorium. It is sponsored by the Gospel Chorus of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Advance tickets for $5 may be secured by calling 774-2207 or 989-2304. Tickets at the door will be $6.
AT LYNN HAVEN BAPTIST CHURCH in Vinton, two staff members have retired. They are Brenda Davis, who served as pianist for 20 years, and Margie Cain, organist for more than a decade.

Jean Marie Van Winkle of Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will lead a Saturday morning workshop covering women's health, living wills and the Christian Women's Fellowship.
