Goodman-Ruth

The engagement of Nicole P. Goodman to Samuel A. Ruth, a son of Dr. Gerald and Cynthia Ruth, has been announced by Ronald and Lynn Goodman, parents of the bride-to-be.

Ms. Goodman, an account executive for Palm Beach Illustrated Magazine, and her fiance, a senior vice president for Prudential Securities, plan to marry on February 3, 1996, at the Polo Club, Boca Raton, Florida.

The future bride, born in Baltimore and a Boca Raton resident for four years, is a graduate of Simmons College. Mr. Ruth, a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and a Boca Raton resident for seven years, is a graduate of Tufts University and Darden Business School of the University of Virginia.

Henry-Umberger

Heather Elizabeth Henry and Jason Carter Umberger are engaged and planning to be married on February 17, 1996. Heather is the daughter of Bonnie S. Finnell and David L. Loper of Chesapeake. She graduated from Cave Spring High School and George Mason University. She received her Masters Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Heather is a Rehabilitation Consultant and is employed by Associated Rehabilitation Consultants, Inc., Fairfax. Jason is the son of D. Kyle and Julia Umberger of Roanoke. He graduated from Cave Spring High School and Roanoke College, receiving his degree in History and Political Science. He is employed as the Operator of Chick-Fil-A at Tysons Galleria, McLean, Va.

Little-Lee

Christina Marie Little and Dr. Christopher Ronald Lee are engaged and planning to be married on June 29, 1996, in Salem. Miss Little is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pence of Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and is employed by Saturn of Roanoke Valley. Dr. Lee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. and Diane C. Lee of Northfield, Minn. He graduated from St. Olaf College and earned his Masters and Ph.D. in Mathematical Science from Clemson University. He is employed as Asst. Professor of Mathematics at Roanoke College. Dr. Lee also conducts research for Grumman Aerospace of Hicksville, N. Y.

McCarthy-Lawrence

Doctor and Mrs. Patrick J. McCarthy of Roanoke proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Theresa, to Jesse ``Chip'' M. Lawrence III. Mary graduated from Roanoke Catholic School, Roanoke College and is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Virginia Western Community College. She is employed by the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley and the Carter Athletic Center. ``Chip'' is the son of Mrs. Joyce Lawrence of Roanoke and Mr. Jesse M. Lawrence II of Denton, Texas. He graduated from Roanoke Catholic School and attends Virginia Western Community College. He is the General Manager of Virginia Varsity Transfer of Roanoke. They will be married December 16, 1995.

McNichols-Hensley

Laura McNichols and Jeffrey Hensley are engaged and planning to be married on April 13, 1996 at Emory Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. McNichols of Blacksburg, Va. She is a 1988 graduate of D.W. Daniel High School in Clemson, S.C., a 1992 graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., and is employed by Ketchum Advertising in Atlanta, Ga. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hensley of San Diego, Calif. He is a 1989 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, Calif., a 1993 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va., and is employed by Ferguson Enterprises, Atlanta, Ga.

Sarver-Davis

Ms. Rebecca Hilton would like to announce the upcoming wedding of her daughter, Patricia F. Davis, to Faron K. Sarver on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2:00 p.m. in New Castle Christian Church. She is the daughter of the late Morris W. Frith; stepdaughter of the late Jack Hilton; and stepdaughter of Jessie W. Taylor. He is the son of Clyde G. Sarver and the late Yvonne Sarver; and grandson of Bill and Bessie Saunders.

Smith-Nolan

Commander and Mrs. William B. Bagbey of Roanoke, Va., announce the engagement of her daughter, Carolyn Virginia Smith, to Christopher Kingsley Nolan of Darien, Conn. He is the son of Mr. Terrence M. Nolan of New York City and Mrs. William Taggart of New Canaan, Conn.

Miss Smith is a graduate of North Cross School and of Washington and Lee University. Mr. Nolan is a graduate of Kent School and Lafayette College. The wedding will be at St. John's Episcopal Church on June 15, 1996.
