GREEN WAVE ROLLS OVER MAROON TIDE

It was a case of turnabout fair play.

Narrows used a man-to-man defense to shut down Tammy Cox and the Maroon Tide as the Green Wave rolled to a 52-39 Mountain Empire District win and handed Galax its first loss of the season in front of a packed gym in Galax.

With the win, Narrows tied Galax in the battle for the district title. If both teams win their final game, there will be a playoff for the regular season title.

The Maroon Tide did not score in the second half until 1:18 was left in the quarter on a Keisha Ayers' free throw and trailed 42-18 at the end of the quarter.
