E&H HOMES IN ON PERFECT SEASON, BEATS PANTHERS

J.D. Davis scored on two 1-yard runs and went over 2,000 rushing yards for his career Saturday, leading unbeaten Emory & Henry to a 14-7 non-conference victory against Ferrum, the Wasps' 22nd consecutive home victory.

Davis, a junior, carried 23 times for 91 yards to boost his career total to 2,006 yards, fifth on the Wasps' career list. His scoring runs, in the third and fourth quarters, gave Emory & Henry (9-0) a 14-0 lead.

The Wasps, who have already clinched the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title with a 5-0 conference record, have not lost at home since Guilford beat them 17-16 on Oct. 26, 1991.

Emmanuel Baker ran 13 yards for a touchdown with 10 1/2 minutes to play for Ferrum (6-4).
