IN SERVICE

MARVIN LOYD JR., son of Marvin and Evelyn Loyd, has been promoted to corporal in the Marines and has been assigned to 29 Palms, Calif.

SEAMAN APPRENTICE WILLIAM H. VAN NAME JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Van Name Sr. of Roanoke County, recently graduated from the recruit training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. He is a 1994 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

ROBERT E. FUDGE, of Charlotte, N.C., and formerly of Roanoke, has been elected national vice president of the Fleet Reserve Associations.

Fudge entered the Navy in 1944 and retired as a chief journalist in 1968. He has served as associate editor of the Navy Times, director of press and public relations for Seagram Distillers in London, and in the hotel business, primarily with American Motor Inns in Roanoke.

HOSPITALMAN APPRENTICE KATHY L. LLOYD, daughter of Elizabeth A. Lloyd of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Navy's Hospital Corps School. She is a 1991 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

PVT. ROBERT D. TICE, son of Michael L. Tice of Blue Ridge, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island S.C. He is a 1995 graduate of Liberty High School.
