PRISON FELLOWSHIP OF VIRGINIA, an evangelical Christian agency that advocates for the families of the incarcerated, is seeking donations to buy Christmas gifts for the children of 200 inmates from the Roanoke Valley. Joan K. Shannon, a supporter, said the Roanoke Valley youngsters are among 8,000 youngsters in the state who have a parent or guardian who is incarcerated. CORRELL MISSIONARY MINISTRIES, a Christian organization based in Roanoke that recruits and trains workers to spread the Gospel worldwide, is sponsoring two promotional events Saturday. From 9 a.m. to noon, a workshop to introduce adults to the needs of the agency is scheduled at the Sheraton Inn - Roanoke. For more information, call 362-5196.

THE CATHOLIC HISTORICAL SOCIETY has scheduled its annual Mass to honor the living and deceased on Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. The service will be at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 809 Orange Ave. N.W., with the Rev. Wayne Ball, pastor, the celebrant.
"WE SING ALLELUIA,'' a service of praise and worship, will be presented at Bonsack United Methodist Church, 4493 Bonsack Road, by the church's Chancel Choir on Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. The program will include favorite anthems and hymns.
HEALTH BEGINS IN HIM, a seminar to teach good body care that upholds the spirit, is scheduled Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Calvary Memorial Church, 2226 Colonial Ave. S.W. Terry Dorian, author of a book on the role of sound nutrition to prevent illness, will speak.
Dorian, who holds a doctorate in rhetoric and English constitutional history, has been a whole foods advocate for 20 years. Call 989-7230 for more information.
MATTHEW FIKE, pastor of Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren for the past four years, will leave at the end of the year to enter Bethany Theological Seminary in Indiana. Fike is a graduate of Bridgewater College.
THE AGELESS WONDERS, a choir of senior adults from Lynchburg will sing at Buchanan Baptist Church on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The group has been presenting programs for 23 years.
ROANOKE VALLEY CATHEDRAL OF PRAISE will dedicate its new building at 8100 Angell Lane on Nov. 19. The Rev. Dr. Robert White, general overseer of the Church of God with headquarters in Cleveland, Tenn., will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service. The pentecostal congregation worshiped in the Williamson Road area for more than 30 years before relocating near Virginia denominational headquarters on Interstate 81.
CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH,1502 Staunton Ave. N.W., will celebrate its 81st anniversary Sunday. The Rev. Franklin Murphy Sr.. and the choir of Calvary Baptist Church in Huntington, W.Va., will lead worship at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
THE REV. DR. RUSS MERRITT has joined the staff of Northminster Presbyterian Church as a parish associate to work part time in programming. Merritt will continue his full-time job as director of the Franklin County YMCA.
VALLEY CHRISTIAN CENTER , 4265 Cloverdale Road, has scheduled a service of praise and healing for Friday at 7:30 p.m.
DONNA HOPKINS, who joined the staff of Calvary Baptist Church of Roanoke several months ago to work with education and programs, will be ordained there on Nov. 19. The 4 p.m. ceremony will be followed by a reception.
Hopkins, a 1995 graduate of The Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, was born in Roanoke. Her father, Rev. Dr. Clint Hopkins, was associate pastor at Calvary.

THE REV. JAMES F. MYER, a former national moderator of the Church of the Brethren, will preach for revival services Sunday through Nov. 16 at Green Hill Church of the Brethren. Myers, pastor of White Oak Church of the Brethren in Lititz, Pa., will begin the series at 11 a.m. with evening worship at 7:30. The church is at 2699 Harborwood Road in Salem.
