VINTON MAN ROBBED ON WILLIAMSON RD.

A 20-year-old man was robbed and beaten at gunpoint late Thursday in the parking lot of a Roanoke restaurant, police said.

About 9 p.m., Jeremy Allen Meador of Vinton was getting into his car in the 5200 block of Williamson Road. Police said Meador told them two men approached him.

One man sat in the passenger seat of Meador's car and placed a small-caliber handgun at his neck. Meador pushed the gun away. Another man standing outside the car hit Meador in the left side of the face with a baseball bat. The man then pulled Meador from his car.

The two men beat Meador and took $373 from his pocket. Police said Meador told them he was left unconscious and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by people he did not know. He was treated for facial injuries and bruises to his back.
