Sophomore Billy Walsh headed in a free kick by Mike Fisher at the 58:23 mark to give top-ranked Virginia a 1-0 win over No.6 Clemson on Sunday for the Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer title in Durham, N.C.

The unbeaten Cavaliers captured their fifth straight ACC championship and improved their season mark to 18-0-2.

Both teams battled scoreless for more than 58 minutes before Fisher lofted a free kick into the box and Walsh guided it in.

Clemson outshot the Cavaliers by a 13-12 margin.

``One goal makes the difference in a game like today,'' said Virginia coach Bruce Arena. ``It's a great honor to win the championship, because this is the best league in college soccer. To win the championship five years in a row is something very special for our program.''

The win marked Virginia's first shutout against Clemson in their past 11 meetings.
