CHRISTIANSBURG - Montgomery County's League of Women Voters will hold a panel discussion for the public on "How New Budget Priorities Are Affecting Local Services," tonight from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Montgomery Regional Hospital's dining room.
Panelists include Dan Farris, director of Montgomery County social services; Fran Mitchell, employee development director of New River Community College; Terry Smusz, director of New River Community Action; Andy Swiger, dean of Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; and Sharon Wood, director of youth and family services and director of community education and prevention services for New River Community Service Board.
There is no admission charge.
Salvation Army program to start
CHRISTIANSBURG - The Salvation Army kicks off its angel tree program at the New River Valley Mall Friday, Nov. 17 starting at 7 p.m.
Cool 100 FM will be at the event. The program benefits needy children of the New River Valley.
