BUS HITS TRUCK; 2 INJURED SLIGHTLY

Two people suffered minor injuries Tuesday in Southwest Roanoke after a school bus en route to Hurt Park Elementary hit a truck at 10th Street and Salem Avenue.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the bus was northbound on 10th and tried to turn west on Salem. Police said the bus apparently failed to yield to a truck traveling south on 10th.

The bus had two students aboard. The bus driver, Carol Underwood, 47, of Roanoke, and a 4-year-old girl were treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Police said the investigation of the accident is continuing.
